our length, and we have the better coach, ive been very critical of coach brown, but the playoffs is were coaching really counts, the best at adjusting game to game in recent memory is Phil Jack, and Coach Pop. Coach pop is browns mentor, im sure they talk alot still. The adjustments we made for game 2 proved brown knows what he's doing. Not his fault kobe blew the game with his turnovers in the final 2 min, and not his fault we couldnt hit a 3 if our soul depended on it all game.

What i did see is that we match up great with this team, there strength is slashing and jump shooting, coach brown showed that you can gameplan and take away the P&R from them and then they struggle to score. Everything they do we can gameplan to take that away. Only way they win this series and this is def possible is if they shoot 55% from the field or better. nobodys gonna beat okc if they shoot the lights out, or we turn it over again multiple times in final minutes, but ive watched to many playoff series to think that a team can do that 4 times out of 7 games.

They can gameplan all they want and take away kobe, but they cant make our 2 7 footers any shorter, theres no adjustment for that. Playoffs is about Defense, and heres the key : we have a easier time stopping them than they have stopping us ! With the game plan brown has implemented, wouldnt be surprised if we win this series in 6 but its likely going 7... there going to try and change it up tonight, which will likely get some shooters open but like i said i dont think they can beat us shooting jump shots, i might be wrong but i doubt it

The Lakers almost played the perfect game mixed with OKC playing sloppy. The problem is that Lakers need to play a perfect game. Barkley was spot on with that assessment.

The key is how OKC adjusts to floater Kobe. They need to make the Lakers pay for that adjustment by having Kobe's man move to the moment Kobe floats similar to how Rondo did and got a bunch of easy layups. This alone will get the Lakers defense running. It's not a very difficult adjustment.

OKC has two players who can penetrate at will (Westbrook and Harden) since Durant has been sort of locked up by Artest.

Lakers must do more to beat OKC than OKC does need to beat the Lakers.
i would say we played the perfect game on Defense for 46 min ... not sure what you were watch but our offense, was far from perfect, we hit 2 3 pointer all game, if we hit just 2 or 3 more 3pointers we win easily... ill take my chances with the team that plays great D over any offence any day... there not going to win in LA, stage is to big for the youngsters, Grandma and Grandpa aint in the front row wearing some lame shirt here in LA, wait till harden looks over and see's denzel ... his palms will be a little more sweatier than normal haha ultimately i think it'll come down to game 7 ... ill take my chance with Kobe "bean" Bryant and a better defense in any one game situation

Bynum and Pau play up to their abilities only when they feel like it. You can't gameplan for that, either.
True ... but when there back has been against the wall, at least in recent past, they've have shown up ... thats not a worry for me ... thats why it will likely play out like this... win game 3 and 4 ... lose game 5, then win game 6 and 7 .... STAMP IT

is that what happened last year?

last year if i remember right, we could never stop the dribble penetration from there little point gaurd, Dirk and Terry were on fire and shot the lights out and carried there team to a championship... i said only way we lose is if okc shoots the lights out... and coach brown is a better defensive coach than phil jack ... not once last year were we able to slow down barrea or what ever his name is on the pick and roll, westbrook is alot better than that guy and after just one game he wasnt living in our paint.
3-OKC

You are not factoring in that OKC also has a very good defense and that they have better shooters than the Lakers overall. So it was your D that held them to 77 but it wasn't their D that held you to 75? Also, Lakers are one of the worst 3-point shooting teams whereas OKC is ranked 11th. There was a span when the Lakers pulled away early in the 4th when Ibaka took like 3 straight shots. He took 11 shots and only hit 4. These were all shots he normally hits.

Not sure why you think the stage is too big for OKC. They have enough playoff experience that it doesn't matter to this point. They also have Perkins and Fisher who have won championships.

Sefalosha has been doing a solid job on Kobe, especially in the post. Can't expect that to continue since it is Kobe. Ibaka also

what wrong bro ... i gaurentee Tom Thibodeau is a better defense coach than both, just cause i say browns a better d coach, isnt saying phil is a bad d coach, pick and chose how you want to interpret things cuz your argument has hit a wall ... overall phil is the greatest and theres no argument there

good argument, cant disagree, will just have to wait and see how it plays out, thats the great thing about sports is were both speculating, just from my experiences watching sooo many playoff series, usually the team that is better at adjustments, which usually is the better coach wins, and our adjustments were great, tonight will say alot on how good okc coach is, i know little about the dude.... if they dominate, well clearly its over but if its a very similar game to game 2 than will win game 3 and 4, that means he didnt make many adjustments...and i think we win this series

Yes, but the other team has to have the cap space to absorb the contract without going over. That, along with his No Trade Clause, makes Kobe nearly impossible to deal.

This is how it was gonna have to go all along. A couple of years with the main guys on the decline was a price we were gonna have to pay. I'd say we got our money's worth out of this incarnation of the Lakers. Like Stoney said, I'm confident we'll reload and be back in the next 4-5 years, just as we've always done.

It will be too easy. Any top FA is an automatically high possibility for the Lakers.

I don't know about too easy, but they can get it done. There's no denying the history and legacy of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Not the Lakers. The attraction of Hollywood. Clippers could have done the same if their owner weren't so cheap in the past.

WTH are you talking about? The attraction is 100% the Lakers, and not just Hollywood.

Phil's track record of his teams finishing in the top 5 in defensive efficiency speaks for itself. Because Mike Brown is a "defensive-minded" coach doesn't make him better at getting his guys to play defense. Phil was the ultimate motivator, and there are very few coaches in the league's history who can match Phil's ability to motivate guys to play their best night in and night out. Popovich is one. Jerry Sloan is one. Mike Brown is not.

I'm very excited to watch this game and see how OKC counters. It almost seems like they have the confidence that they can beat LA and won't collapse if they are down early. The weapons are there. I'm more interested to see how they defend the key as we all know Pau and Bynum will get the ball early. Bynum did take 19 shots but they can take advantage of Ibaka as he's primarily effective as a help defender.

Personally, I think this stage is too big for guys like Blake, Barnes, Ebanks, and Sessions. Hill on the other hand gets on that court to ball all out. May actually be better to start Bynum and Hill and bring Pau off the bench.

If OKC's not hitting shots, the game will be close but if they are, it's over.

HMMMmmm...im torn i think your both right, the prestige of the lakers draws free agents, knowing they will contend for a title year in and year out. But i also feel that Free agents would chose clippers or the lakers due to southern california, great places to live, orange county, brentwood, calabasis, ect.... if the nor cal teams werent so bad they would draw free agents to there teams too because of the great cities and weather in northern california, to me you guys are both right. everyone would chose to live in california over Okc or memphis or Charlotte because of the weather and cities

It's Hollywood and the fact that the Clippers in the past never wanted to spend money. If the Clips owner likes the taste of the playoffs and decides to spend some money, he will have players flocking to him.

you may be right bro, will see, and i def agree with the what i have in bold ... believe me ill take phil over brown any day of the week if we could
but with this same team, phil couldnt stop barrea from living in the paint last year and overnight, brown implented a gameplan that stopped arguably the best slashing point gaurd from getting in the paint.

youve got me into an argument about brown vs phil which has nothing to do with my original point, good job ! Phil jack is the greatest

lakers in 7 !
