Live in Dallas huge Mavs and Dirk fan. With that being said Dirk would need to win 2-3 championships (First one happens Sunday) and continue to play consistently like he has during this championship series to warrant comparison to Bird.
During Birds time you had 2 of the top 5 centers (Jabbar and Hakeem) to ever play the game along with a host of other great players that could play today, so that argument doesn’t hold up.

The comparison is starting to seem less rediculous. Still he needs multiple championships to be compared. I think it's likely at this point he gets his 1st this year.
