Man, I can't help but root for Florida. They're really trying to get it done and get themselves into the playoffs next year. They've been the underdog for so long, I really hope they can put it together and make it to the post-season, if not just for the sake of seeing a different team out there other than the same old.. "Caps, Flyers, Penguins.." every year.
So far, the Panthers have added.....
Defensemen: Brian Campbell, Ed Jovanovski, Mike Kostka
Forwards: Tomas Kopecky, Marcel Goc, Scottie Upshall, and 3rd overall pick John Huberdeau
Goalie: Jose Theodore

gonna try to get back into hockey this season...havent been a fan since the strike...use to be a HUGE Avs fan...they seem to have alot of good youth so im intrigued
they arent all that.
Young talent
but
I think they are about to overspend in Free Agency because they need to reach the Cap Floor.
hopefully its on a goalie
You guys were saying? Varlomov's rights traded to Colorado: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=568023&navid=mod-rr-headlines
really retarded deal on their end
and yes they will overspend to keep Varlomov because Varlomov is rumored to be going to the KHL for the $$$$$
and
he still may have issues with his knee
I agree HORRIBLE move by Colorado, they gave up way too much. I'm not sure who the Avs GM is but some of his moves have been questionable of late, epecially when you go back to the trade deadline and see him move future stars like Chris Stewart, Kevin Shattenkirk, and established vet Wojtek Wolski.
they signed him
two year deal

I just think it is a gamble to give up a first rounder in the 2012 draft and a second rounder in 2012-2013 for a guy that has never won anything in this league, and has never even been a hands down #1 goalie. Varmolov has potential and has shown flashes of being a great goalie in this league, but that is a lot to give up.

On a side note, I thought Mayers was hanging it up to be with his family?

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Friday the club has re-signed forward Matt D’Agostini to a two-year contract.
“Matt had a solid year for us last season,” said Armstrong. “We look forward to his continued growth as a Blue and in this league.”
D’Agostini, 24, posted his best professional season in 2010-11 with the Blues, setting new career marks in games played (82), points (46), goals (21) and assists (25) while also ranking third on the team with six power play goals and tying for the team lead with five game-winning goals.
The 6’0”, 200-pound forward has dressed in 183 National Hockey League (NHL) games over four seasons between the Blues and the Montreal Canadiens amassing 71 points including 35 goals and 36 assists.
The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native was originally drafted by Montreal in the sixth round, 190th overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Blues from Montreal in exchange for Aaron Palushaj on March 2, 2010.

Just a back-up to Ward. No big deal.

oh I know he'll be a backup but I'm just not a big fan. As long as he can take pressure off Ward cause once he gets in the playoffs Ward is a machine.

Boucher should serve as a quality backup, he played quite a bit with the Flyers last season.

Know what, or who, I'd have the most fun seeing in the playoffs for the East next year?
Boston
Buffalo
Montreal
Toronto
Carolina
Florida
Winnipeg
New York Islanders
Now, that'll never happen, but it'd be nice to see several new teams in for a change.

Haha. Absolutely. Realistically, I don't see any way possible that the Flyers, Caps, and Penguins miss the playoffs next year.
But I think at least Carolina and Florida, and maybe Toronto have a shot to be new teams to get in. Florida has made some big moves, so we'll see.
