NBA Fans: Boston or LA and why...?

That's pretty much true of any organization, sports or otherwise, that's successful. Very rarely are you gonna find a company where all of the key figures are lovable people. I mean...Jerry Rice was a douche, but we didn't have a problem with it because he kicked ass.

Like you said, success = hate/jealousy. I never understood it, but it's true. That's why people like JoeCool & ZRF show MUCH more interest in the Lakers than they do for their own teams.

I actually like watching Phil Jackson lose more than anything, which isn't often. Just seeing him have to get up from his chair because the best player in the league isn't bailing him out is like..."yeah, what now, mr. zen!"

I liked the Lakers during the brief Rudy T. phase.

But why are you so damn enthralled by it? I mean, I root for the Cowboys/Red Sox/Celtics to lose, but I don't take NEARLY the active interest in it that you do. I just don't get it. You genuinely seem to be more interested in what happens to the Lakers than what happens to the Spurs.

I agree here LA. Like in football I like seeing the Cowboys and Cardinals lose. But a 49ers win makes me 10000000 times happier than a Cowboys loss.

Totally different. If we were all on a year around Lakers forum and there was an Other Sports forum during the NFL play-offs and in that other forum, there were majority Dallas fans who were also your peer Lakers fans, you would find yourself posting more against Dallas because you are a Niners fan in that forum and love seeing Dallas lose.

I like seeing Dallas lose but I don't need to post about it. It's just that I enjoy the Webzone where there just happens to be a whole bunch of Lakers talk and we are all watching the same playoffs games.

You mean like how it is on the Laker forum that I visit? No, you won't find me with more posts in that thread than nearly everyone else, and more active interest than the Cowboys losing than the Niners winning.

Damn man, how much time a day do you committ to forums?

So there's a lot of cowboys fans in the Lakers forum?

And to add, as much as people want to exaggerate, I have less than 1 post per page on the NBA Finals thread, which is NOT the Lakers thread.

I think they did an ESPN poll on the series before it began, and the majority of the country (and the world) was rooting for Boston. IMO, its more about the fanbase than the team itself.

The reality is that the Lakers are the Dallas Cowboys of the NBA. Their fans are arrogant (see Laker thread for proof) and would rather spend more time talking about their own players' haircuts (see 2 page thread on Ron Artest hair color) than the successes of other players/teams. Yet, when their team is down in the dumps....they expect pity from other fans', and when they dont get it.........they gripe and cry.

Of course, if you ask them, they'll just excuse it as "well, everyone's just jealous of us because we're successful." But how does that explain everyone's love fest over Boston, who by the way, has won MORE champonships than LA ?

As I said, Lakers = Cowboys.

I dunno....because most sports fans weren't even alive for the vast majority of Boston's championships? Just a guess.

Typical ZRF...nowhere to be found after the Lakers win, but shows up after Laker losses. Weak.

The Lakers have the most people that dislike them in the NBA, because they're the most popular team. The most popular team will ALWAYS be the most disliked by the rest of the fans of the sport.

Most popular baseball team? The Yankees. The most hated baseball team? The Yankees.

Most popular football team? The Cowboys. The most hated football team? The Cowboys.

Most popular basketball team? The Lakers. The most hated basketball team? The Lakers.

Most popular college basketball team? Duke. The most hated college basketball team? Duke.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out.

Wow LA your 2 nice.

This dude is calling out Laker fans as ignornant and caring about Ron Rons hair?
Laker fans are just like any other teams fans, "fans" and thats it. Nothing personal.

So when some clown tries to say all Laker fans are this or that it tells what kinda person your dealing with.

Oh yea I know plenty of Cowboy/Yankee/Laker fans and they are cool peeps. There not like these ridiculous "stereotypes" Z is bumpin about. This is all so childish.

I have never had any guy come up to me IN REAL LIFE and say this dumb s**t about being a KOBE/Laker fan. Im really beginning to think it some weird internet/aggression syndrome type o thing.

What a bunch of made up bulls**t, "I hate this, I hate that" because my s**t is booty.

I actually agree with Z, as someone who has been around a lot of laker fans at school/family etc. Even if your friends with them, except for my cousin I just preferred not to talk basketball with them because it always turned into a conversation of how they want to blow Kobe and how your team sucks and you're an idiot because you're not a fan of the LA dynasty or some bull like that.

My sports allegiances have nothing to do with popularity, but are entirely based on residence.

You have the third most posts in the Finals thread (152), which is about a series that doesn't even involve your own team. You had 63 posts in your team's thread the entire year. You had 99 in the Laker thread.

And aside from the Zone, I'm not on forums very often. The Laker site's definitely #2, and I have 5,500 posts there in 5 years.

I love playoff basketball and posted quite often about the Spurs when they were playing. It's the Finals and I only watch NBA and NFL so it's interesting to me no matter what team. I posted a s**t load in every Finals thread it's just that now there's a specific fan base here of the team that is in the Finals.

Everyone has more posts in the Finals thread. There's only a few Spurs fans here so that thread is naturally going to be smaller and require less posts with more quality.

As for the Lakers thread, it's the size of the thread. Proportionally, I posted more in the Spurs thread.

I have 1600 on the Suns forum I frequent, 5 years there also. The Zone is where it's at, baby!

He could have more posts if he was jrg, but talking to yourself is no fun.

Actually, he's a timberwolves fan, so I'm not quite sure if he can call himself a fan of basketball.
