Only surprise for me is Findley over Ching. Ching was a beast last night. Sucks for him

Not the result USA wanted. But the result matter very little. Only a few players from today will be starting for USA.
I like Gooch, Holden, Beasley, Ching, Mo Edu and Gomez.

I agree, I was very impressed with the play of Buddles and Gomez. They need to find someone who can step into Davies role alongside Altidore (and hopefully develop a rapport with Donovan).

Also, Edu, Holden, and Goodson showed they can fill-in when needed. Still a little worried about Gooch, but hoping the next two exhibitions will get him ready.

I think Beasely only looked good b/c of everyone else around him.

Oh, and to everyone who have sh** to talk about the Czech's winning, they had 1st stringers in b/c the couldn't make it into the WC, while we had 3rd stringers trying to make it to the team. Put Howard, Donovan, Altidore, Bocanegra, and Dempsey in, bet we win it...looking forward to saturday against the Turks and June 5th against the Aussies

wow, I've yet to see a single post of anyone talking s**t

a little defensive about nothing, eh? lol

Sorry, I may have been a little apprehensive about that, seeing I had about 10 of my friends (who are rooting for England and Brazil ) calling me and texting me about the loss, so took it a little hard.

...and how the hell did Findley make this squad? Granted I didn't particularly like Ching, but he was definitely better than Findley...though this wouldn't have mattered if we still had Davies, though it'll be okay b/c Gomez and Buddle both compliment Altidore's playing style.

My best guess

only thing I'm worried about is if Oneywu can hold up for a full 90 minutes...

Robbie Findley? Even a paraplegic Charlie Davies is better than Robbie Findley. Also, as much as I dislike Heath Pearce, he's way better than Bornstein. Hopefully this means Bocanegra will play left-back and DeMerit will start with Onyewu in the middle.

But I like Bocanegra playing in the middle b/c he imposes a strong presence and Oneywu had the height and size to combo with Bocanegra's speed and aggression. Rather have DeMerit and Bornstein compete for the left back and leave Bocanegra in the middle

Boca --- DeMerit --- Gooch --- Spector

With Goodson and Cherundolo as the subs

Just finished reading up on DeMerit's accomplishments at centre back in Watford and I do remember his exploits in the US/Spain match in the Confederations Cup, so wouldn't be too upset by this. Not to mention, if worse comes to worse for Gooch's health, DeMerit and Bocanegra can play Centre backs and put Goodson or Bornstein at left back.
this is awesome!

This team would be lost without Donovan

I am officially eating my crow and admitting that I was wrong about Findley being a non-factor part of this team. Granted, he's no Charlie Davies, he brings the speed option that we clearly NEED to succeed.

Turkey brought their A game to show the world they deserved to be in the WC, but the US equalized in the second half with a strong defensive effort and stronger/aggressive offensive play, the same play we showed in the Confederations Cup.

I think Torres and Cherundolo have shown their value to this team and should deserve to start against Australia. Felihaber shouldn't be starting and Spector might be better off as a substitute (though Spector has shown starting potential).

Dempsey is a center Midfielder, not a striker, so stick with the 4-4-2 and let Donovan, Dempsey, Altidore, and Bocanegra do their jobs right, not make them into a 4-4-1-1 hybrid crap.

Also, hope Oneywu heals up soon b/c he still looked a lil slow and worried he hasn't played a full 90 minute game in MONTHS...and we clearly need him to help manage the middle.

For those who didn't watch, I will be posting a player-by-player analysis tonight so stay tuned US soccer fans
to gomez and torres making the squad.

What happened to that Real Salt Lake defender with dreads, I thought he was pretty good.
