I agree. I think this is fun but the What IF sims are pretty much a joke in my opinion.

Agreed.

Combined record = 7-16.

I'm guessing that has a lot to do with it.

You are 6-1, your whatifsports.com nut swinging might have a lot to do with that.
I could care less about my fantasy b-ball team record but from a sports fan, some of these sims are jokes. I remember during the AFC title game whatifsports predicted the colts would rush the ball 32 times, that in itself proves the site is a joke.

Your first round draft pick in an all-time draft was the 3rd best player on his real life team. I'd say the fact that you're 2-6 is actually pretty accurate.

I have no idea what their football sim is. Don't care.

I'm not arguing my teams case, I didn't really put much effort into the draft.
But don't dismiss some of these crazy results the simulator is spitting out,
Sabonis grabbing 14 Rebs off the bench vs Dampier and Kaman??? WTF is that???
Their football sim is the same as the b-ball sim why would it be different?

Sabonis wasn't coming off of the bench. He's a starter. His counterpart at PF was Dolph Schayes, who was 6'7", 195lbs. Sabonis was 8 inches taller and outweighed him by 85lbs.

And even in real life, you're going to have statistical outliers. Guys like Andre Miller score 52 points every once in a while. But there haven't been a ridiculous amount of outliers in the simulations, IMO.

According to Schayes year I'm using him, he should have abused the much slower Sabonis off the dribble he was the NBA Scoring during that year. But he didn't.
I like the whole draft and league idea. But some of the results and down right absurd.
He shot 39.8% against slow white guys in the year that you chose him, Hollywood. He shot 5/13, which is 38.4%, against a slow white guy in that game.

Lets go by stats then, He also Avg 25 PPG vs slow white guys, but only dropped 14 vs a really slow center playing out of position?

In real life a team with the frontcourt of Shaq and Sabonis would get ran off the floor by quicker players, but not in whatifsports eyes.

I just think the sims are crazy. Rick Barry is one of the greatest players ever in the NBA but his performances in here are marginal at best. Same with Dennis Johnson and David Thompson. You yourself told me that you really liked the depth of this team and your biggest question mark was George Mikan who actually has been good.

I dont care what the sims show... if my team played LBC's team it would be a wipe out . David Thompson was better than Ray Allen in his best years, Rick Barry against Danny Granger is a joke, and his center is freaking Nene for christ sake.

I would never say that my team is one of the best but its way better than these sims are showing in my opinion. Same with the Rockets. THat team would smoke the Mavs every day of the week. Kidd, Westphal, Rice, Cowens, and Malone and they are 2-5????? WOW.

By the way... you should have made your ratings and predictions before hand rather than say now that it was exactly how you thought it would be.

Sabonis never played a minute of PF in his entire career and shouldnt even be allowed to play any position other than Center. I think thats a bit of a problem.

Just to say again... I think this is awesome. I just dont buy the sims and think they truly overate some so so players and really underrate some damn good players.

And Pete.. wasnt trying to "own" anything. Was just an observation.

In the midst of this chaos, the Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings have come together on a six-player deal. If you thought these proud franchises would just sit back and enjoy watching everyone else jockey for playoff spots, you must have been drunk.

The Kings acquire Isiah Thomas, Armon Gilliam and Matt Harpring. In exchange, the Jazz pick up Sam Cassell, Charles Oakley and Theo Ratliff.

New Kings lineup will be posted shortly in the other thread.

In real life a team with the frontcourt of Shaq and Sabonis would get ran off the floor by quicker players, but not in whatifsports eyes.

Going by that logic, these games would have final scores of 210-207 and each team would take 180 shots per game. Because Shaq averages 30ppg, Wade averages 30ppg, Penny averages 22ppg, Sprewell averages 23ppg...that's 105ppg just right there. Pretty much everyone's PPG is going to be down significantly. There are only so many shots that can be taken.

And Shaq in his prime was so much faster than either Parish or Schayes that it isn't even a comparison. The teams that have beaten crzy have been the ones that have had big men that could pull Shaq & Sabonis away from the hoop (McHale, Laimbeer) (Chambers/Sampson), which is usually how "big" teams get beat. The Lakers have a terrible time with stretch 4's for that exact reason.

John...as I said over PM, I think that your PG position is the reason that a guy like Barry & Thompson are struggling. In terms of the teams that I thought would be good, you can chose to take my word for it or not. I do believe I posted that I thought that lifer had the best team in the thread. I wasn't trying to make predictions here, I was just saying that I thought that the sim is MUCH more accurate than I thought it would be.

Come on LA you didn't answer the question, why doesn't whatifsports take into consideration that sabonis is playing out of position?
