Brazilian, glad you are online - I respected Dunga as a player,
but have mixed feelings abut him as a Manager/Coach.
What is the general feeling about him in Brasil ?

When he got the job, NOBODY liked it. Then of course, he started winning and now the fans support him.

However he is in a permanent war against the brazilian press. The brazilian journalists HATE him (but they do give him credit for his work) and he is notorious for his bad mood at press conferences.

That's how he was as a player too and I love it. Garra meu irmao

And you to acknowledge that it was the press that created that anatgonism by using him as a scapegoat for the '90 blunder and for not giving enough credit to the victorious '94 squad. They rather talk about the '82 who was very talented but lost to Italy.

Funny thing is the 3 most hated players during the lazaroni area are the ones that helped Brasil win in 94. Dunga, branco and taffarel

Wow.

That was such BS...Can't they fined him for doing that? I was so upset, they were just hating because Brazil was kicking their ass. They were really trying to hurt the Brazil players.

Thanx for the update, most of the news I hear, is how much he has changed the style of Futebol that Brasil
now plays. Seems winning (for some Brasilians) is not enough...they also want "Joga Bonito"

I'll admit, there are times when I think of the teams of old (as compared to now), and wish for that type of game.
However, things evolve - "Nada Será Como Antes Amanhã" (Milton Nacimento). Never-the-less, you can't dispute winning.

He probably was coached on that move by Drogba. A few seasons back,
Drogba was given a warning about his excessive Flopping during a match.
I think it was during a UEFA Champions League match...can anyone recall
the actual match ?

The whole "joga bonito" debate has been going on for ages (since the 50s). Only at that time the term was "futebol-arte". However, winning was always a big part of the futbol culture in Brazil. It has always been some faction of the press that focused on the "joga ponito" part. Brazilians are proud of the beauty of it's game, but they are damn proud of their 5 world cups.

BTW, man you do know you brazilian music eh?

I didn't know so much about the Futebol-arte aspect until recently...
I saw a 6 part special (last week I think) on The BBC, that had a
segment highlighting Brasilian Futebol

Thanx, I have always had a love for the music, I don't know where it stems from,
as my father was a Jazz aficionado. Funny though, the first music I ever purchased,
was a Brasilian LP - a large portion of my music collection, is Brasilian music.

When I lived in The City, I meet and later dated an art student from Rio, studying
at the Institute in San Francisco. Also worked with 3 Brasilian guys for years, who
I went to the 1994 World Cup with.

I wear the colours every match that's on the tele, and have the flag flying from
my balcony, from Brasil' first match (of any tournament the are in), until the end.
Had I not meet SouthOfTheSlot9R, I'd probably be living in Brasil today, instead of Helsinki...

Brazil has been dominating World Cup ever since the 1900's and people are still looking for away to cheat anyway possible. I am not Brazil fans but they won the most cup and always finishes on the top 3 which is pretty amazing.

Whatever, this entire game was awful to watch for me. Luis Fabiano had TWO hand balls on his goal, Lucio had just a big of a flop in the first half, and both sides got chippy with each other for no reason.

After the United States dissallowed goal and many other complete referee flubs, I'm slowly losing interest in this World Cup. Its really tough to watch when so many games are decided off of such ridiculously blatant missed calls.
Tthat is true but its hard for the refs because of the players. They need to face some disciplinary actions for flopping. The refs have it hard because they could always end up on the wrong side of things by calling a foul that diddnt happen or missing the call on a play.

Forgive me. I follow Soccer like I practice Catholicism. Like going to Church only on X-mas and Easter I pretty much only pay attention to Soccer every four years at World Cup time.

So is the horribly suspect officiating and drama-queen flopping a new phenomenon? It's intolerable.
