Has anyone seen the ESPN documentary, Without Bias? It's about Len Bias, who (for the young 'uns) was the 2nd pick in the 1986 Draft, who died of a cocaine overdose two days after being picked. While it was a dumb thing to do, in the 80's coke was looked at very similarly to what pot is now. A party drug that wasn't a "big deal". Bias was remembered as a recreational user, but far from an addict.
Well, it turns out that the cocaine that Bias did was 98% pure, and that's what killed him. He was about to join the Boston Celtics, who were coming off of an NBA Championship, and was the best squad of their 80's run. He had the world at his fingertips, and blew it on cocaine. This would be like John Wall dying two days after he got picked.
He was an amazing athlete and had some serious skill. What could have been...

I realize this is not a popular pick for the board. Heck, if I was starting a real team, this guy wouldn't be my pick here. However, after analyzing some of my picks on whatifsports, I realize I haven't been picking the best players for this competition. Whatifsports really likes Johnston's best season and values it better than any of my other picks' best seasons (sans Russell).
From a statistical standpoint, he was every bit as good as Bob Petit & Dolph Schayes...it's just that his career was shorter. From a whatifsports perspective, this might be the steal of the draft.
