Gallagher option down to AAA Sac.

Why it take so long to option him down. Rather have him working on his stuff in AAA than coming out of the pen.

How awesome would it be if Cust did the home run derby...

that would be. but he'd probably swing and miss at most of the pitches!
Just as I post I agreed with Urban on his whole stance on the Gallagher/Buck situation, he goes out and speculates that the A's may call up Doolittle with them optioning down Gallagher to AAA.

I know Doolittle thru the first week or two is doing very well but he's not IMO a viable option to turn this offense around.

Now maybe if this team wasn't competing and was just looking for a young player to develop for this season, then maybe, but you think a guy with just two week's worth of ABs is gonna turn this A's offense around in any way.
Doolittle might just have it, man. Plus, a hot RH stick wouldn't hurt right now.
Just as the positive Doolittle talk begins, he's in a slump, 1 for his last 11 albeit the one hit is a HR.

54 ABs above AA ball, he's not nearly ready.

Maybe by the start of 2010 he could be a candidate to be a big leaguer whether it's a 1B or even OF as he's been playing out there much more often even though a lot think he can be a gold glove caliber 1B.

Barton in AAA though is stinking up the place. How far has his stock hit. A year ago at this time he was thought to be a serious candidate for AL ROY, course that was before Longoria was called up.

Hopefully with Carter and Doolittle doing relatively well in the minors thru the first few weeks and Barton struggling, it's a wake up call for him...probably something he's never had to face playing the game.
Pleeeeeease don't bring up Doolittle. Just when it looks like we finally have a legit young A's developed bat in the minors don't rush him and f*ck with his development by having him get irregular playing time and having to adjust to big league pitching qwith minimal experience at higher levels.
Who are the other candidates to come up?
To play 1B or just hitters in general.

Because the two hitters with experience would be Barton and Hannahan.

I would bring up Hannahan jus because we have no depth at 3B with Nomar and Chavy been hurt early.
Holliday looks at the Yankees as a potential new team...

I for one think Holliday is an a*****e. he plays for the A's currently... so shut up and try and hit a homer this season please...
And boom just like that the A's call up Hannahan.

As for the Holliday story, yeah I read that a few days ago, but that's to be expected. Hell I remember in 01 when NYC beatwriters asked Giambi that same question.

he's seeing it for what it is...unfortunately.

I was holding out hope that he would try hard for the A's and maybe stay, but he's not that dumb...lol.

Plus if we continue to play the way we are, Matt Holliday's time with the A's may only be until the trade deadline.
We f**king suck...
