Yanks Still Undecided On Center Fielder?
Newsday - The Yankees are still trying to decide whether Brett Gardner or Melky Cabrera will be their center fielder to start the season.
"They've both played at a very high level," Girardi said. "I'm of the belief that we can carry both and get production out of both."
Gardner started much quicker than Cabrera, but the latter kept plugging along.
"Melky didn't panic," Girardi said. "He just kept working and doing his thing. That's a sign of maturity."

Burnett: Bruce Lee Tattoo Saved Me
New York Post - Yankees pitcher A.J. Burnett believes that his Bruce Lee tattoo protected him from a line drive on Thursday night.
Toronto's John McDonald hit a second-inning line drive that nailed Burnett in the left triceps, but he escaped without injury.
"It's a good thing I have Bruce Lee," said Burnett, referring to the area where the tattoo resides.

Teixeira Hopes To Get Off To Fast Start
Newsday - Mark Teixeira is known to be a slow starter, but is hoping that he'll get off to a strong start this spring with the Yankees.
"It always takes me a long time to get going," said Teixeira. "I feel like the work that [hitting coach] Kevin Long and I are putting in is really paying off. I felt like my righthanded swing was really lacking last year."
Teixeira's career numbers in April (.259 average) are drastically worse than the rest of the season (.295).

I can't understand how the Yankees are still undecided on their center fielder. Melke f**king sucks, he can't hit. Every time he's at the plate he either flies out or hits a weak grounder. He plays a great center field and he has a strong arm, but Gardner is more of a threat at the plate and he plays a great center field. He doesn't have the strongest arm, but it's still strong enough to make plays. Gardner is a threat on the bases.
DO THE RIGHT THING GIRARDI!

Yankees Still Trying To Deal Igawa
Chicago Tribune - The Yankees are reportedly still trying to trade Kei Igawa, their $46 million free agent nightmare.
The left-hander has looked good this spring, and hasn't been scored on in six outings.

If they can't deal him now then they probably have no hope because he pitched pretty well this spring.

Swisher Loves NY, But Wants To Play
New York Post - The Yankees originally acquired Nick Swisher to play first base, but the signing of Mark Teixeira changed that.
Now, Swisher appears to be behind Xavier Nady on the depth chart in right field and has essentially become a bench player.
"It's tough, I want to be out there every day," said Swisher. "I love this team and we will see how it plays out. We talked and he told me he was going to make it work. We have a great team with an opportunity to do great things. We want to win but I also want to be a part. There are a lot of at-bats out there for me."
Swisher, who has four years and $22.5 million left on his contract, could end up being shipped out of town.

Will Yanks Look To Hardy At SS In 2011?
New York Times - Derek Jeter's 10-year contract with the Yankees expires after the 2010 season, when there aren't expected to be many options at shortstop.
Assuming Jose Reyes and Jhonny Peralta have their options exercised by the Mets and Indians, respectively, Milwaukee's J.J. Hardy would be the best option on the market.
"That's two years away," Cashman said. "That's not something we're even thinking about. Hopefully, Derek will be with us for a long time."
Jeter is adamant about playing shortstop, but internally the Yankees are believed to be hoping that he'll switch to the outfield within the next few seasons.

Well, after having a great game last night, the Yankees sent down top prospect CF Austin Jackson, along with SS Eduardo Nunez and 1B Juan Miranda.
it was a given anyway, Jackson wasnt gonna crack the lineup, this season, atleast not yet. With Damon and Matsui coming off the books after 2009, and Nady also a FA, that leaves Gardner and Cabrera as potential starters, Which means we could see AJax in Center in 2010.
