NEW YORK YANKEES REGULAR SEASON THREAD

LOL, I just read that list of Yankees that were implicated. "Hal Morris, who played for the Yankees for 27 seconds in 1989, was accused of buying steroids from someone while playing for the Reds 10 years later. He denies this claim."

You know what they say..."Once a Yankee, always a Yankee..."

Jeter: Yanks Will Be Fine Without A-Rod

Newsday - Derek Jeter doesn't believe that the Yankees will have an issue playing without Alex Rodriguez at the start of the season.

Rodriguez will be out six to nine weeks after having hip surgery on Monday.

"I don't know the details of the surgery. I'm not a surgeon," Jeter said. "They say it's a labrum or something? I didn't even know there was a labrum in your hip. I don't know the severity of it. But I think it's good for him to go ahead and do what he needs to do."

Missing perhaps the best player in the game will be difficult, but Jeter isn't overly worried.

"We have no choice ... Cody [Ransom] did a good job for us last year when he played," Jeter said. "I'm sure whoever they decide to put at third base while he's out, they're going to do a good job. He is obviously not going to do some of the things Al is capable of doing. There aren't too many people in baseball that can do it. But we have enough guys on our team that we'll be all right."

Brewers: Yankees Don't Want To Seem Anxious

Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel - Brewers manager Doug Melvin says that the Yankees haven't called him about acquiring an infielder in the wake of Alex Rodriguez's hip surgery.

"They're probably still making their list (of possible replacements)," Melvin said. "They probably don't want to seem too anxious."

Milwaukee fits the bill of a team with an excess of players capable of playing third base. Bill Hall is expected to be healthy enough to start at third when the season starts, and they have Mike Lamb, Casey McGehee and Craig Counsell in camp.

STFU Brewers! It's only one month without A-Rod. I think we can manage. We got Cody RANSOM! That's right. WAAAAATCH OUT!
I'm looking forward to seeing how Gardner does this year. He's hitting very well in Spring Training, and dude is lightning fast. Covers a lot of turf in CF. If he can hit, that would be a huge boost for us.

Seemed like last season he was trying to just slap hit. Now he's actually driving the ball to the gaps. He's much better than Melke in the lineup.

But he doesn't have the better shirt!

He should be banned from the Hall of Fame like Pete Rose was.

Yanks' Rivera Will Be Ready For Opener

ESPN - Yankees closer Mariano Rivera is ready to return from shoulder surgery and says that he'll be ready for Opening Day.

Rivera is set to make his first spring training appearance Tuesday. He threw 40 pitches on Saturday in just his second batting practice session since surgery in October.

He has "no doubt" that he will be ready for Opening Day.
