NEW YORK YANKEES REGULAR SEASON THREAD

I need to know the "facts" before I pass judgment on Torre. But if this is all true, then he should be ashamed of himself. Brian Cashman was fighting for his job last offseason, of course he's not going to come out and go against the owners. If true, respect is lost.

I wasn't upset over the Cashman thing as much as I was upset over what he decided to release about A-Rod if thats all true then he should be ashamed of himself. Stuff like that needs to stay in the locker room and shouldn't be released to the public.

A-Rod's 'Team' Blast Torre's Comments

New York Post - Insiders close to Alex Rodriguez have blasted former manager Joe Torre for comments made in his upcoming book about the third baseman.

Torre characterized Rodriguez as a prima donna in the book, something his team says is "unequivocally not true" and "one final act of desperation."

"None of it's true, and it's obviously a ploy to sell books," said one insider about allegations in "The Yankee Years," which were first reported in Sunday's New York Post.

Yanks Agree To One-Year Deal With Bruney

Press Release - The New York Yankees announced today they have agreed to a one-year contract with right-handed pitcher Brian Bruney, avoiding arbitration.

Bruney, 26, was 3-0 with one save and a 1.83 ERA in 32 appearances (one start) with the Yankees in 2008,
missing over three months (April 25-August 1) with a Lisfranc injury in his right foot. He held opponents
to a .153 (18-for-118) batting average, ranking fifth in the Majors among pitchers with at least 30.0IP, and
kept the opposition scoreless in 27 of his 32 appearances. Originally selected by Arizona in the 12th
round of the 2000 First-Year Player Draft, Bruney was signed by the Yankees as a minor league free agent
on July 1, 2006.
