Does Teixeira Signing Mean Gardner Will Start In Center?
Staten Island Advance - Many believe that the arrival of Mark Teixeira in New York could allow the Yankees to play Brett Gardner in center.
Teixeira's presence could help manager Joe Girardi hide Gardner, a slick defender but below-average hitter, in the lineup.

Yanks To Be Cautious With CC, A.J.
Daily Camera - Both CC Sabathia and A.J. Burnett are coming off career-highs in innings pitched, which means the Yankees are expected to be cautious with their new arms.
"We're going to be careful with them and make sure they peak April 6, not March 20," New York's pitching coach Dave Eiland said, referring to opening day. "We've already got a plan in place."

Yankees Want Pettitte Back, Just At Their Price
New York Daily News - A person in regular contact with Yankee brass said Tuesday he believes the club still wants Andy Pettitte back and believes a deal will get done, perhaps as early as next week.
According to this person, someone in the Yankee organization was putting out that word as something of a scare tactic, knowing that Pettitte badly wants to pitch for the Yankees next season. "They just want him at their price, that's still the bottom line," the person said.
Pettitte earned $16 million last season and apparently is reluctant to take a $6 million cut.

I've been to both New York and Boston, and Boston is better. Better bars, better restaurants, and the people not so uptight.
Boston rocks. My 2nd favorite city to SF.
I just think this belongs in a Yankee thread.

Every team in baseball sucks.....besides the Yankees.
Do Yankees Need Oliver Perez?
New York Post - The Yankees still have one hole in their starting rotation, and many believe that Oliver Perez would be a perfect fit.
New York is still waiting on Andy Pettitte, who they would like to have back. However, Perez is younger and could come at a similar price.
"Putting Perez on the Yankees would be a great move," says one top pitching evaluator. "That would be the perfect environment for him. He would be more focused there. He needs strong leadership around him, and pitching in front of a packed house, he would not be complacent."

Pettitte Rejects Yanks' Offer, Making Return Uncertain
New York Times - Andy Pettitte has reportedly rejected a one-year, $10 million offer from the Yankees, which makes his return to the team doubtful.
Pettitte wants more money, but the Yankees are unwilling to bend for the pitcher after spending hundreds of millions on CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett and Mark Teixeira.
The offer, which Pettitte considered for weeks, represented a 37.5 percent decrease from his $16 million salary last season.
