It's nice having the Astros as our farm team.

I'm super excited about Pence though. I've been watching him since he was a minor leaguer, playing for the Round Rock express. In fact, I saw the hit that basically launched his career and ended Lidge's with the Astros.

In a pre-season exhibition game the Express (with Pence at the time), played the Astros in Round Rock.

Late in the game, Lidge came on for a save and Pence took him yard with a ball that sill hasn't landed yet.

Very soon after that, Lidge got traded and Pence got called up.

We go to the Phillies/Astros series in Houston every year and I've been watching Pence his whole MLB career.

I couldn't have picked a player I would rather have had the Phillies get to replace Werth for the foreseeable future.

This will be a huge part of not just a shot at the WS this year, but keeping us as a contender for the next few years at least.

Great pitchers duel tonight once Bumgarner settled in.

I'd love to see our pitchers face our lineup sometime.

These games really do have that rivalry/playoff type feel to them.

I honestly in no way fear Howard. I know dude has mad power but his average is so bad and anytime there are two strikes I feel like its a guaranteed K. (Now he's gonna have a monster game cuz I said that) but its like any time there are two strikes he will swing at anything. I wonder What his average is with two strikes?

Actually looked up Howard's stats on two strike counts...

0-2 .125
1-2 .125
2-2 .150
3-2 .217

.157 average with 118 Ks when he gets two strikes.

Wow. I just figured out how to beat Howard haha.

i expected howard to struggle he just stinks against lefties...Howard is what he is..a big power bat that will stike out alot but dirve you in 140 rbis a year..i love the guy..my favorite Philly...if howard only struck out 100 times a year and batted .300 every year hed be the greatest hitter to ever play the game...hes not that
