Just note that if they do release or trade Aiyuk pre June 1 they end up losing around $15M in cap room for 2026 but they gain over $40M in both 2027 & 2028, 2027 is super important as they're up against the projected cap for 2027, so that $40M+ will help.

Could we get any of aiyuks signing bonus $$ back??

Yes, but not until 2027 most likely.

How much money do you think Aiyuk ends up walking away with out of this deal? It feels like he just robbed the Niners. How much of the $120 mil will we get back?

can we get a thread title update on the cap number?

How much do the 9ers save or how much of a cap hit do the 9ers take by cutting Luke Farrell?

Thank you sir. I wonder they keep him, he just doesn't do anything well. Much rather give his money to Isaiah Likely or another veteran TE.

Tough to say, the 49ers will get back $41.449M in 2027, $43.325M in 2028, & $14.545M in 2029, so that's $99.319M they'll get back, it wouldn't be the entire $41.449M in 2027 if they do a Post June 1 cut/trade, as they'd get back like $1.315M in 2026 & $20.21M in 2027 with a Post June 1 cut/trade, if they do a pre June 1 cut/trade they end up losing $19.932M in 2026 cap room since they'd take on a $34.572M dead money hit between his signing bonus prorations, 2025 option bonus prorations & 1/5th of his 2026 option bonus proration which the 49ers would get back in 2027.

All in all, Aiyuk would end up taking home around $48.15M of the $120M, but that doesn't count anything that the 49ers will recoup when they go after his signing bonus prorations, which I'm not 100% sure how much they'll get back, they should be able to get back 3/5ths of it, maybe 4/5ths of it since he quit on the team this season, I don't think they can recoup his option bonus from 2025, I could be wrong, but usually those aren't subject to forfeiture, so theoretically they could get back between $11.301M to $15.069M, but that likely wouldn't begin until 2027, though they likely took out an injury insurance policy on him, so they should get back some this year like they are with Bosa's deal, the amount though I have zero idea as those aren't disclosed at all unlike contract terms that get leaked.

I have it as a $1.43M savings with a Post June 1 cut, and $162K with a pre June 1 cut, though the option bonus might be paid out, only 1/5th of it, so that would change the numbers a little bit, by about $530K, so a pre June 1 cut wouldn't work, while a Post 1 cut saves just $900K, unless he's kept until the end of August then they end up losing cap space as his base salary becomes fully GTD on April 1, so it's not as simple as it should be.
Alright updated the title, I have them at $46.322M under a $305M cap, includes protected carryover & projected adjustments, but doesn't include the base salary escalations for Ji'Ayir Brown & Dee Winters.

Edit: The reason as to why I didn't include Brown & Winters' base salary escalation is because those numbers are tied to what the salary cap ends up being as it's the RFA number for the original round tender, which is tied to how much the cap goes up, percentage wise.

Thanks for the information. OTC and Spotrac always have different numbers. So either way cut him

No problem, but yes I'd cut him, give his money at the very least to Tonges, who should get the 2nd rd tender IMO, as he was a UDFA.

Nice work as usual, thx brotha

Seems like we are in a decent salary cap spot, which is a small miracle given aiyuks disaster. Hopefully we have enough $$ to sign a couple impact FAs. I know we need to build through the draft but I think we need to supplement that with some smart FA signings. Maybe not top of the market but hopefully it's not another Luke Farrell top fa signing year
There was a recent stat somewhere which claimed we had 27m cap space. It ranked all the teams. Is that old? The stat was "projected 2026 cap space."
