Huh? Bosa took a pay cut this year?

He didn't take a pay cut, just restructured the payment method. It looks like they're allocating some of it to signing bonus and spreading it out to give relief.

It says 1 million base salary plus 10 million bonus. That's 11 million. He was set to earn 17.

Right but he probably agreed to it because he just got $50M up front, the rest they're spreading around to make it fit better for the cap. So he's probably getting the remaining few million a different year. He got $50M plus the base salary this year - it just counts against the cap differently because it's a signing bonus and they can prorate it over the life of the contract

Bosas Cap hit in 26: 40+ Million lol
26,27,28 are insane

Yeah but we have no idea what the salary cap might be 4 years from now. That $40 Million might not seem that high by then. 4 years ago we thought $20 Million for a DE was high.

I mean if they truly want out the only yr that the cap is outrageous is 2026. The rest of the years they can move off or extend to lower his cap at that point.
We could definitely use above-average starting talent on OL, DB and NT. These were pain points last year that weren't addressed well in the offseason.

Woot Woot to that!
What's the point of freeing up all this cash? Clowney and Ingram would only cost us maybe 7-12 each max to rent.

Burns we can't afford long term so seems pointless to pay so much for a rental...

Somebody clue me in on this...

There not going to go out and try to get cousins for a one year rental right??? Right??? They can't be thinking that...

Wait. There wasn't any part of the salary breakdown for 2023 that listed 50 million corn dogs. It didn't look like anything got spread into 2023. It said "10 mil bonus" plus 1 mmil salary. That doesnt count signing bonus?

Also some articles said he got 88 million guaranteed. Not 122. So, what?

I think 122 guaranteed and 88 fully guaranteed
The only way Burns works is as a rental.

He plays and then we somehow extend and trade.

I just don't see it. That'll be extremely difficult to pull off with only one year on his deal.

Most immediately, it allows the team to swing a trade or sign depth throughout the seasons if injuries become a factor.

But the reason to secure over $40M in cap space is because unused cap space rolls over for the next year, and the team is already committed more than $40M over what the projected cap will be. Now the adjustments to get under will be easier to manage.

The downside is that restructuring means a higher dead money if they want to move on from Kittle, Armstead, etc. You lose the flexibility to manage; but if you believe in the core, at some point you gotta push all your chips in, like the Rams did a few years ago.
