Yea that cost us many years of hell.
It was hard because the team rarely did team-friendly deals to sweeten the pot to get guys to take money. Like Jeff Garcia - it was an incentive laden deal that burdened the next season with tons of cap. I believe they were put under, "not likely to be earned" incentives so they didn't count against the current cap year and if he hit those benchmarks they were rolled on to the next year. His cap figure in 2003 or 4 was going to be around 14 million and they had to cut him for a 10 mil dead money hit just to save 4 million. It was crazy.
