Sounds like it's going to be hot.

They should wear the white unis and make Denver wear their dark blue...

i read that it is too late. you have to submit uniforms in the summer and they already chose red.

Niners were allowed to make a last-minute switch to the red throwbacks+white pants in 2024 (against the Cardinals) so perhaps that can be attempted again….🤔
i don't think that is true
Straight from Shanahan:

My bad, I assumed you meant the all whites and didn't see you added red before the throwbacks

Biggest hint they *might* do it again would be if they swapped out the helmet logos on the helmets to the early 90's "SF" decals in any of the photos from practice this week—though they could easily just wear their normal helmets (logos unchanged) and reveal their surprise switch to red throwback jerseys+white pants on Sunday

only other time apart from the Arizona game 2 years ago when they made a similar last minute uniform change was the 2019 season finale up in Seattle (the Greenlaw goalline tackle game) where the Niners wore their all-white '94 throwbacks+regular logo helmets—which I think later contributed to the lore and superstition of wearing all white in Seattle (which I wish they'd go back to this season, but it looks like they're only gonna wear them in December for the TNF game against the Chargers…)

I remember the '88 game. It was very windy that day. Broncos won at the end, iicr.

Lemme guess….Mike Cofer somehow f**ked up
That's highly likely. That guy was so bad and he was held on to for far too long. That was a weird year, especially until mid-November. The Niners choked away so many close games then turned it on at the end and got the championship.

I think most of the time, the Niners scored so much more points than the opponent during that era that having a mediocre kicker didn't matter much (most of the time)—though Cofer did have big shoes to fill after Ray Wersching retired after the '87 season and the Niners never had reliable, clutch kickers again until the Harbaugh era
Gotta say I'm not thrilled we're seeing that type of heat in a moment our DL is beat to crap and having a hard time stopping the run which leads to inability to get off the field.

Denver especially has been really good in the 4th quarter. Last thing we want to do is give them a 4th quarter with a tired, thin defense playing in extreme heat.

Everyone has to be at their best in this game. Play smart with the football - accurate throws, clean catches and protect the football. Defense has to do a better job getting off the field. Broncos have a really good OL but their RBs are weakest we've faced so far, hope we can make that work in our advantage. If the defense gets an opportunity at creating turnovers - take that ball away.

Sucks we're going into this one banged up because the way we've played so far and the way Denver has played so far this was a winnable game. Hopefully it still is but it will require mistake free football in all phases for us IMO.

In Brock I trust. He is playing other worldly football and I think he will deal em up enough points to secure the win. We score 35. We win.

They have a really good OL, not sure about that. It's pretty average seems to me. You know Mike McGlinchey's on it, right? Their best running back is Bo Nix, hopefully he doesn't do a bunch of goofy off schedule stuff.

Agree, as long as the offense and special teams don't turn the ball over, I think Raheem and his banged up defense can limit Denver to two scores. Also, I really am looking forward - excited and in absolute dread - about how our young DLinemen will perform against Denver's offense. Sorta like how I felt when Jimmy went down and Brock was called to play from the bench.

That feels very optimistic. Let's hope he's right.

This would be best possible case scenario.

Therefore I am highly skeptical.

Yes they have a really good OL, including McGlinchey. We have to stop living in the past and pretending McGlinchey sucks. Especially in the run game he's a top tier RT and we don't have the pass rushers right now to hit his weakness in pass pro.

Outside of McGlinchey they had 2 1st team All Pros at LT and RG. The other 2 starters are also solid.

O linemen usually get bette rwith experience as long as they stay healthy. They may slow down a little but they learn a lot of tricks. Especially how to hold and get away with it.

Just seeing that Evans can run is a great sign. At least he should be good to go for the Seattle game. We will see about the Denver game. If he does go for Denver, I still think he will be limited.

Against a QB like Bo Nix, that = W.
