Gotta say I'm not thrilled we're seeing that type of heat in a moment our DL is beat to crap and having a hard time stopping the run which leads to inability to get off the field.
Denver especially has been really good in the 4th quarter. Last thing we want to do is give them a 4th quarter with a tired, thin defense playing in extreme heat.
Everyone has to be at their best in this game. Play smart with the football - accurate throws, clean catches and protect the football. Defense has to do a better job getting off the field. Broncos have a really good OL but their RBs are weakest we've faced so far, hope we can make that work in our advantage. If the defense gets an opportunity at creating turnovers - take that ball away.
Sucks we're going into this one banged up because the way we've played so far and the way Denver has played so far this was a winnable game. Hopefully it still is but it will require mistake free football in all phases for us IMO.
They have a really good OL, not sure about that. It's pretty average seems to me. You know Mike McGlinchey's on it, right? Their best running back is Bo Nix, hopefully he doesn't do a bunch of goofy off schedule stuff.
Yes they have a really good OL, including McGlinchey. We have to stop living in the past and pretending McGlinchey sucks. Especially in the run game he's a top tier RT and we don't have the pass rushers right now to hit his weakness in pass pro.
Outside of McGlinchey they had 2 1st team All Pros at LT and RG. The other 2 starters are also solid.
For context, here is some data to go along with the above; and comp with 49ers
Bo Nix has run for a total of 15 yards this year. Purdy = 93.
#4 - Garrett Bolles PFF ratings are 88 for Pass Protection, 75 for run blocking. --------- #11 - Trent Williams - 74/PP, 74/RB
#55 - McGlinchey - 66 for PP, 51 for Run Blocking. His run ratings is surprisingly low. ------------- #18 - McKivitz - 65/PP, 79/RB
#4 - Quinn Meinerz RG is surprisingly low in PP - 54. 91 for Run Blocking. --------------#19 - Puni - 88/PP, 63/RB
Ben (the weak link) Powers - 48/PP, 48/RB -------------- #26 - Colby - 70/PP, 66/RB
#10 - Luke Wattenberg - 43/PP, 75/RB --------------- #6 - Brendel - 70/PP, 66/RB
I would say Denver has a slight edge at LT and RG. We are better at Center, LG, and RT.
Note Denver's low PP ratings for everyone but Bolles, and just average McGlinchey. Halton and Osa should be able to get some pressure in Nix's face.
