Kirk is meh but will help a little while the other 3 studs are down. I like Hobbs as depth but he's going to compete with Jones for the 4th spot. Martin is probably a gunner at best.

I'm not trying to shyt on your thread brother I just found it funny all the doom and gloom with these injuries which is warranted and you make a thread on reinforcements featuring Kirk, Martin, and Hobbs lol

Both Jacob Cowing and Jordan Watkins have looked damn good in TC and pre-season for 2 straight years. Last year, both were injured and couldn't really get on the field, plus it's a tough playboook for rookies to master and KS won't give offensive skill players snaps if they don't know what they are doing. People try to "poo poo" that he won't like it's not a big deal, but Cowing got on the field a little last year and got 2-3 penalties for lining up in the wrong place. Acting like things like that don't matter is silly.

Do Cowing and Watkins have to prove themselves when the snaps/games actually matter? Absolutely, but until they fail, based on what they have shown, there is no reason to expect they will fail.

We've already seen 6 starting QBs injured this season. Four are still out. Every game I watch I see someone getting injured. Even baseball games.

There might be something to be said for having a few minimum wage veterans on the roster who have experienced success. The league gives up on them and they get activated for a few games until they get hurt again. They'll work cheap because they'd prefer to be available/unavailable on a playoff team.

I've been saying for years that they need to change the salary cap rules and make QBs exempt. Then teams could afford to keep a decent veteran QB on the roster and the QB spot wouldn't take up 20% or more of the cap. They could pay O linemen more and protect the QB better.

All it takes is a vote and agreement. I know the players wouldn't mind and owners should relish the idea of being able to have a solid backup and pay for better protection on their prize investment.

It's like the national debt. The urge to spend will never lower it.
Nick Martin is in the same boat as Watkins. Neither is starting material and neither seems to play special teams. If you aren't a starter you better carve out a special teams role or watch them promote PS players each week while being inactive.

Martin was playing special teams but I agree I don't see a need(and hopefully it stays that way) for him to get the return designation anytime soon.
Not expecting Martin to be designated and hopefully we don't have an opening TBH.

Kirk, yes, when healthy, will help the offense.

With Hobbs it depends on Jack Jones being healthy.

I have a feeling we'll just rotate elevating Valdez, Jackson, and maybe Givens from the PS until Thompson is back.

I think Khalid Kareem may get cut when Williams returns.
