So we're down to literally wr6-10 starting and playing...

I can't recall any other teams ever having to play wr6 as their number 1 guy

Another team than us? Nope.

But I do remember that our team was down to like our 7th WR and other practice squadders for a game the Covid year. Maybe against the Packers if I recall correctly.

Outside of Evans injury most of today's did not look real concerning. Evans has been hurt since day one really. I will be surprised if he plays 10 games.

Lenoir & Green coming back + Trent being back on the sidelines was super encouraging. Those three missing games would be a huge loss.

Greenlaw came back in for one snap & was down for a long time. I'm holding my breathe there. Evans I'm really worried about. This WR group is really beat up & Stribling isn't coming back for a long time. Kirk won't be back until week 5 at the earliest. We really have no idea how Brandon Cooks is going to play.
On paper its bad but a lot of those injuries were stingers and short term

The only serious one was Evans and i hope its jsut a few weeks. Its a long season and we need to be smart about this if we want to make a push late

The D had too many snaps and were on the field way too long they got exhausted which leads to injury
With so many of our guys out, I don't know how we are going to win in the next few weeks. Denver, Seattle…it just fn sucks.

i agree unfortunately. Next 2 weeks are tough but we have to look at big picture. If the goal is late push which it is we really need to be cautious about bringing these guys back. I will say luckily we are one of the few teams that have not lost anyone out for the year since season started its all been contact injuries and short term ones

Ya I agree, with that although we have lost a couple for the year so far (Ricky, and Collins), not to mention strib for 1/2 year basically. The az game was huge win for us and the rams/Seattle loss helps as well. Hopefully we can stay close until theses guys get back. It's going to be a rough run I can see a few losses in the next 6 weeks. Due to these injuries.

One thing I'll say is the Niners are the best team in the NFL at winning through injuries. No other team could deal with even half our injuries and still win. I guess when you have so much practice with it you get better.

But yeah, the next few games will be tough. We had a nice couple weeks at the start of the season with comfortable wins, but that s**t is over now. If we're gonna win its gonna be ugly and grinded out.

Im not worried about Denver- at all. Way different team not at home. Seattle... well that's gonna be rough
Do we know if they hired a completely different strength and conditioning staff? If not, they have to make the change.

Something is not right here. I don't think it's a coincidence or just being unlucky anymore.

They certainly aren't going to hire an entire new staff in mid season. Any changes will come in the off season.

Carter is right....it's part of the problem.

The biggest issue is that these guys train to be athletes first, football players second. The whole 'bigger, faster, stronger' is their moto but it comes at a cost. The modern day athlete is focused on sports science regarding training, working out, and consuming the most nutritional and 'chemical' substances, and while they are building muscle mass, all it does is put more force and energy onto ligaments and tendons which cannot keep up. 40 years ago, the ACL injury was a very rare occurance, and when it did happen, it was practically a death sentence for almost every NFL career. Now, it's a common event and for the most part, it's merely a setback.

This is my main problem with the NFL. I am not interested in watching a game filled with average/below average backups. It's a poor product comparatively, and it's only getting worse....and there is nothing you can do about it. What were seeing this year, like a few other years with the 49ers, is a complete joke. If this was the total amount of injuries the team took in a full year, that would be bad enough....but we haven't even made it to week 3. There will probably never be a 'cap' on how big or fast a player will be or deny them the advancements and working out todays athletes are accustomed to. My only hope is that somehow science and surgery can advance to a point where a player can return from most any injury in a matter of days instead of months or next season, but I'm not keeping the front porch light on for that one.

I agree, this is a big part of it. Some orthopedists are reporting that year-round, intense youth sports are also having the effect of aging athletes joints and tendons prematurely -- a la 22 year old athletes are looking like 30 year old MRIs - or something like that.

But the 9ers problem is unique - not a big believer in the substation issue. But even last year, reporters noticed that the 9ers warm-up periods were brief compared to other teams at practice, etc. The 9ers don't need $9MM hydro-therapy spends, they need an independent and thorough OUTSIDE consultant review and report that identifies how their training program is different from the teams avoiding injury. And then bring in the leadership and staff to adopt and employ the new plan. Clearly the 9ers self-assessments are not working.

No doubt the Niners have suffered a lot of injuries but they aren't the most injured every year like some fans keep insisting. They've been in the top 10 over the last 10 seasons but there have been teams with more. Statisically the diffenrence in the number and severity of injuries between teams is small. As I've already stated in anther thread I think much of this is caused by over training. These guys push their body to the limit in the offseason. As soon as they start playing we start seeing ligament, tendon and muscle injuries. We aren't seeing more broken bones so I don't believe it's because players are bigger and hitting harder. If that was the case we would see mre broken bones as well as the soft tissue injuries. We're seeing a lot more non contact injuries. Players just fall wrong or twist their knee while running and something blows. It's not just the Nners. It's happening all over the league every week.

There is no doubt that every team takes its share of injuries, and SF isn't the worst hit every year, but we have to be in the top 3 for the last decade or so. I mean, I dunno what other team has its own conspiracy theory that is so wide spread around the circles as the substation one that has been attached to SF. The Chargers have also been a team that has been ripped apart by injuries over the last several years as well. It's not just games lost, but the quality of the player and position lost that is also crucial.

There aren't as many broken bones and such because there aren't as many kill shots/more rule changes to prevent such hits, but I would take that scenario over the nonsense that is today.

I looked it up and the Niners haven't led the league in injuries or ethan once in the last 10 seasons. Usually in the top 10 but it really depends on which metric you use to measure it. Some sites go by total games lost. Some us ethe number of players injured . Some go by the amount of cap money that's on IR. I think the bigges tissue is how mortant the player is to the team. Losing your QB is obviously the bigges tloss but las yea rthe Ninewrs lost 4 key players. Five if you count Aiyuk. Williams, Bosa and Warner along with Pearsall being in and out. Then they lost Kittle near the end of the season. All really immortant players.
