I like see him at Center. Seems to have the brains and personality traits to be one good fit there. He gonna be the Kittle in our OL room in that regard lol
But yeah down for him to lock up that LG spot as well
Yup me too, I'm hoping he takes over for Brendel. I feel he needs to get stronger though, I forgot who it was in that video but Carver had trouble vs bigger DT's.
I think he's got a good shot to be the starting LG this yr. Thought he was underrated during the whole draft process.
imo a center most likely comes via FA vs being drafted.
I finished his tape last night and this offseason i got tape with Foerster going over install tape and spring position drills, diving into philosophy and the technical aspects.
This kid has a REAL shot at being the starting LG. I'm going over his film on Monday on my channel. Ive pulled something like 65+ clips.
You could tell real quick why he won't be a tackle. He doesnt have the hip flexion to kick step at NFL standards and arms are too short.
How was he really in run blocking? I heard he got the lowest grade in run blocking out of the O-lineman? I'm hoping they found a starting Center in Willis!!!
He was the highest rated run blocker in the game.
Oh I thought he was the highest rated pass blocker.
He graded out at 55ish in the passing game.

There's hope at LG. Also, wtf is Enrique Cruz doing...the guy is running around like it's his first time playing football.

Isn't that the coaches job? Seriously he's a 5th round pick that's probably confused right now with the complexity of Kyle's offense compared to what he was used to in college. If he was a top notch O lineman he would have been selected earlier.

He could have both done.

Boy, Willis is athletic enough for sure, BUT, he is not powerful enough to start. Not even close.
Starting defenders will whoop his ass play after play, and kill Purdy.
I sure hope he can load more meat on that body because he's way behind where he needs to be.

Congrats, rook, it looks like you've won the starting left guard job. Now, go out and block Myles Garrett and Aaron Donald in your first NFL game.

Patterson may be the stop gap to give Willis more time to develop. At least Patterson has some decent tape at pass blocking.

I'm not really moved by the Aaron Donald return but I do hope somehow he doesn't play week 1(or much)
Donald may not be the game wrecker he used to be but he's still a guy who dominated the league for all those years and if there's a player who can give a rookie hell it's him. VERY tough ask out of the gate.
We're really going to need our defense and running game to show their best to ensure we're not putting ourselves in obvious passing downs often.

Agree, and its a bit like Aldon Smith returning to the NFL for the first time after being barred. Aldon was not the same game wrecker he was during the Harbaugh years.
Aaron Donald is 35 and I hope he's nowhere near his all pro level peak.
