I just hope it is a real competition and they do not play favorites.

Aside from starting Lance in 2022 because of the extremely high investment in him requiring they see if he could play through what turned out to be his limitations (which of course was cut short and they never looked back once Brock balled out), when have they ever played favorites? Just two years ago Puni won the RG job, for example.

Best guy is gonna play.

Who was the other guy in that rep?

Why can't anyone identify #8 in this clip?

Cian Slone (N.C. State), was listed as a #8 DE on the National team

Was he drafted as well?

Actually I just saw he is a UDFA with the Raiders.

ya this coaching staff plays the best player no matter what its how lenoir won starting spot as you mentioned some of our OL spots, Mitchell was a great starter for us who was also a late round pick starting over higher drafted players etc
At G or C he'll be an asset over what we have.

Agree, hopefully it all works out. Quotes from Carver:

What's your background at Guard or Center? Is that something that any teams talk to you about moving to those positions in the NFL?

"Yeah, that's something every team talked to me about. So yeah, I'm happy to do it no matter where they need me on the line. I've kind of said this whole time. I just want a shot in a playbook, and anywhere they need me on the line, I'm game. But every team talked about interior."

As you approached the draft and your background at both Tackle spots, what do you envision being the biggest challenge if you were to slide inside?

"It's a different game inside in little ways. Things get on you quicker. Guys are a little bit bigger, so that adjustment I think will be interesting. Then at Center, there's a Center I train with that talked to me, has helped me a lot throughout this process. His name is [Denver Broncos C] Alex Forsyth, and he's been huge. He told me Center is the hardest pre-snap position, but one of the easier post snap positions on the o-line. So, for me, the adjustment to Center will be a lot more pre-snap communication than I'm used to, making the calls and doing all that. That'll be an adjustment, but one I think I'm very capable of doing."

Solid run blocker who can't pass protect. So we get a younger Brendel with his same flaws.

Where are you getting the can't PP from,?

I think it's pretty consistent in all the scouting reports I've seen. Struggles with speed outside and power inside. Technically good but physical limitations are exposed against more talented defenders.

Yeah, but that's based on him playing tackle, which he won't be. A lot of his issues at tackle is just size, which is remedied with him being IOL.

let's hope he balls out and can snag the LG spot. I think it's unlikely a rookie plays LG this year but we will see

I'm just glad ShanaLynch decided to pick an offensive lineman this draft cycle. For a moment there I thought he was going to go with only Toth, Robert Jones, and last years OLine crew. When pick 127 came, I was so relieved. I hope he surprises the coaches the way Conner Colby and Puni did. Hope hope!

One thing that jumps out when you watch this dude is his grip strength. He's got very strong hands. You rarely see his hands knocked away or him having to regrip once he's got a hold of his opponent. That's one of the most underrated traits in the trenches.

Boy Bryson Eason looks really raw. Still, hopefully even as an undrafted, i hope he can make a dent with the coaching staff in a few months.

That is really nice. Hopefully he can fit in well along interior of oline

Dude, if Willis can learn both C & LG/RG I'd be very very happy with him at either LG or C long term.

Absolutely agree. Good fourth round OLinemen gems are rare. I was really impressed as to how Puni stepped in to Brunskill's spot and upgraded it. If Willis can upgrade Brendel or Burford's spot, its a first round level pick, as far as I'm concerned. I think the hit rates of finding a starting offensive lineman *in the first round* is in the neighborhood of 50+ percent. So just finding OK starters like Brunskill, Compton, Bartch, Feliciano are the equivalent of late first round picks in my book.
