Looks like he has a bit of that Jordan Mason thing going for him. Not sure why the team soured on Mason. Jonnydel said the tape showed he didn't always know where he was supposed to be. I'm no expert, so I'll have to take his word for that. Hopefully, Black will be a guy that Shanahan will finally trust enough to make him take McCaffrey out for more than four plays a game.
We took a RB when no other team took a RB in the entire round so we could have clearly got our RB later.

We are drafting against ourselves, outsmarting ourselves.

If he wasn't available later its not like it will effect our super bowl chances. Emotional moves like this are interesting, also no attention from the media regarding our draft LOL

Drafting against themselves is completely accurate. Tiresome but accurate. 😂

I'm actually looking forward to the undrafted RB that we sign after the draft is over!

RIGHT!
I hope he ends up being good, but this pick was stupid as f**k and totally on par.

Like stop drafting 3rd round running backs kyle. When has it worked? Whatever undrafted rb we end up with will probably be ahead of this guy on the depth chart by the time the season starts.

Definition of insanity man.

Brightside... he was only the 4th biggest reach of the round according to that chart lol

Your logic is fundamentally flawed. Just because no other team took a running back in the 80s or early 90s doesn't mean Kaelon Black wasn't at the top of the board for the teams picking at 91, 92, or 95.

Get use to it. This will be the norm until something is done about NIL.

It's kind of funny when you think about it. Remember when Lynch said "we need to get younger." Even the draft isn't helping us with that. Lol

The guy is 24. Exactly how young did you visualise us getting, 14?

It was a joke because it's well documented how hard it is for rookie running backs to see playing time under Kyle.

For the sake of conversation though. Since the average peak age of running backs in the NFL is about 25. Yes id prefer someone 2-3 years younger.

It wasn't a problem for Matt Breida, Jeff Wilson, or Eli Mitchell. Those guys were ready to play. Isaac Guerendo was a project player who went way too high. Sermon and TDP were just meh guys. My hope is that with Black, he'll see a lot of time immediately. He should based on what he bring to the table. And I hope beyond hope that he ha soft hands, because between pass pro and the ability to catch, that's the only thing that will keep CMC off the field. I think since CMC came onto the scene, a healthy Eli Mitchell is the only person that would've eaten significantly into his usage.

I get the negativity but it's not that bad

If this is truly an awful RB class (I will take your word for it as I dont watch College Football), then that makes taking the 15th ranked running back as the 3rd running back off the board exponentially worse.

You think he was the only RB that any team was targeting in the 3rd round, and my logic is flawed? LOL
