The pick was is and still will be a reach even if Stribling makes five all pros. Because a reach is relevant to his projected value, not his actual success or failure as a NFL player.

Yes, it was really funny in those Moody, Latu, Beathard and every single "we are the smartest people in the room who know more than you" reaches threads. Very "funny".

Projected value? We don't measure ourselves against media generated mock drafts lol.

Awesome pull featuring the drummer of the greatest band in history. ... Still out there doing his thing at 86.

Regarding Stribling and this draft class, it's kind of poetic for this to be a great draft class given the intense backlash by all the experts out there.

He had a pretty bad run block whiff on the first drive. That's probably why Kyle sounded lukewarm on him after the game.

Exactly, valuing other peoples opinions over your own success is folly whether it be in life or on the field.

Projected value according to who?? That is what I never understood about these things. Let's say somehow we had access to every teams draft board, and multiple teams had stribling rated as the 30th best prospect but the internet/draft guy consensus is he is a late 2nd.

Which is more accurate related to reach vs not? You would have to say the team draft boards are what matters, not some Internet guys.

Now, you can say this guy sucks, he's not worth a 2nd round pick, and then are we talking about a reach (could've got him later in draft) or just a bad pick?

Anyhow, it all means nothing immediately after the draft. Players can play or they can't and you find out very soon

Even then, it only takes one team to value him at that spot to potentially lose out on him.

Once I watched the tape I could see why they like him so much. He's Jennings with 4.3 speed. I just don't like that they didn't take him at the end of the first to get that 5th year option.

This is such a bad take. The problem with projected value is every team's draft board is confidential, but that is the real projected value, not the one from the media. So technically we don't really know whether it was a reach to draft him at 33 overall.

Projected value doesn't come from the media. Most of it comes from third-party scouting and evaluation services that provide the entire NFL standardized evaluations, rankings and grades. Look up NFS, Blesto, SIS, etc.

Most of the top level stuff(evals, grades, value, etc) we see in the media is literally stuff that spills out from these groups. The dirtiest secret in scouting circles is how little work some scouts actually do. Even tho this is AI slop, the info is spot on.

I only know about this stuff because I learned it from a conversation I had with John Middlekauff(former Eagles scout) while he was at 95.7 the game.

Strong hands i like that. But like the young guys that didnt pop out, I wont overreact either way. But I like what I see. He definitely has the potential to step up.
Damn, apparently Strib spent today's practice drilling catches behind him(likely due to the one he dropped on that slant) and running with the 2s/3s.

Shanny coaching him hard as f**k. Luckily, the kid is built to be coached hard and won't take it personal.

He's going to need to improve his run blocking if he wants to be active on game days. Kyle doesn't care what you're capable of in the passing game if you don't do your job on running plays.

I think he missed a few assignments blocking wise earlier in the game so thats why Kyle is on him.

Projected value is about as accurate as all those pre draft boards we see posted. One man's reach is another man's smart pick. Where someone has a player slotted is meaningless. All you have to do is look at all the players picked high that fail and all the guys picked late that become stars.
