Good-I love that they addressed the X receiver position.

Bad-Absolute waste of value on the pick. Stribling was considered the lower tier of X receiver below Brazzel and Hurst among others. I saw him mocked in the 3rd round or later. I find it hard to believe we couldn't trade back another time. The only trait Stribling has better than other X receivers is his blocking ability.
Kind of reminds me of a Deebo, Kittle type. Not necessarily very agile (not bad) but has some straight line speed and can be tuff to bring down

Mocks arent real.
Watching social media melting down after a 49ers draft pick is tradition.

That said I love the pick.

yeah its cool to put a number on that...because it screams at you from the highlight reel...that and him running over people.... truly looks like a TO/Moss hybrid in his highlights....

yeah highlights on youtube are not the end all be all...but if you CANT do that in college you likely will not do that in the NFL

I'm fine with mocks not being real...we could have dropped lower in 2nd round and gotten him or a similar caliber X receiver

This isn't a 1 off criticism of Lynch and the 49ers. It is a pattern of reaching when KS falls in love with a player
The pick is whatever. It's about the process. The 49ers once again think they're smarter than the rest of the league and reach AGAIN. Not a single reach over the last ten years has been a hit, either. Just terrible, terrible drafting in terms of value.

How can you be so passionate about things you don't understand?

They took a lot of time to put in their pick. I'm guessing they were trying to trade back but didn't get any takers.

Taking him at 33. JJ was a 7th rounder btw.

Obviously if he turns into a great player it will be no big deal but we keep reaching for guys in these situations and it's pretty frustrating.

Also we haven't had many reaches like this that worked out well for us. Hope this kid breaks that trend.

You have no idea if he's a reach.

Until I hear a team in the 30s looking to draft him then all we have are consensus boards out there for months. He hasn't been mentioned anywhere near this early.

Like I said, hopefully this pick looks great long term but we have a history of making these types of moves and I can't recall a player who we reached for early that worked out. Stout may be the only guy so far.

He's a late 2nd early 3rd pick. If they can get a dude at 58 that we all projected higher then it doesn't matter lol.

I never really bother about consensus boards etc. as the fit to the team matters more. People like to talk about value and when this player "should" be available, they never are. We don't know how teams set up their board, rumours about the Rams looking at him etc. and he seems a fit.

All that matters is how well he plays when he's on the field, given run blocking is a strength of his I think he'll see action.

But WR is a need for us, last year that group (well Aiyuk) is a big part of why we flamed out, Seattle was not worried at all about and receiver we had on the field, they were too slow and could not get open.

What happens if we have a couple of injuries?

I think he's going to be used similarly to Deebo where we'we'll get him open in space for YAC.

Cheering for him
If this pick makes McVay frown a little more than it was worth it.
