Solid if healthy, but still a band-aid solution. Not a long-term fixture. But it seems like we very well may bypass guard entirely in this class. We need an LG and C of the future though. There are some great center options that should be available up through the 4th. OG from what I've scouted so far is very top heavy. Not much beyond the 1st/2nd.

I think we are developing that C the last few years to take over the C position. I think he was michigans championship C under harbaugh. Similar to what we did with Mckivitz. That's just my opinion.

this Robert jones seems like a decent pickup cause he's played in the same system. Hopefully he's a mean ass run blocker and can pass pro well. He didn't play last year because of a neck injury, which is concerning, but if he's healthy - could be a solid signing.

Looks like when he's played - he's been below average at pass block and better at run blocking but still average (per metrics).

he's listed as a depth piece to a low end starter. So maybe he will blossom under our O line coach. Idk the context to the prior situations he's been in - maybe being next to Trent will help him out a lot.

At least there is competition - may the best man win out.

Nice pickup that doesn't stop us from drafting or upgrading the oline

good depth signing. some risk with neck injury last season but hopefully factored into contract. scored 56 pff in 2024 with dolphins. 54 pass pro. gave up 5 sacks.

ewwww, as a guard?
Would it have really kill us to get Joel Bitino (sp) from Cleveland? He has a couple years left, and he is a pro bowler and still plays at a high level. I guess paying a guard close to 10 million a year isn't a priority even though it would make our left side ridiculously good

They love these scrap heap guys that are cheap and passable enough until they're getting run over on a crucial play in the 4th quarter of a playoff game and Purdy is either getting sacked or missing a throw because of it but hey it frees them up to draft yet another RB that they wont use.

Pretty much the normal in the NFL. Go search for pay by position group. Guard is ahead of only running back and tight end in salary allocated salary group.

The way I see it, currently there is no pass rusher opposite Bosa, and no real cover safety. Before this signing there was no LG. Those positions seem to be most pressing. I don't think this signing necessarily fills the hole at G, but it does put a serviceable body out there and potentially gives us a little flexibility in the draft should the board cause us to go a different direction. We have 6 picks and needs to some degree at EDGE, WR, FS, T, C, G, DL, CB, KR/PR, and TE. And yes even RB could be improved, but, like you, hope it's not with one of our picks, unless it's a dynamic returner type.

Kind of a backup plan if they can't draft a guard. If they do then they release him or keep him as a backup if they like him in camp.

This offseason's OL situation isn't helping my trauma from those Seattle ass whoopings.

Tighten your chin straps for 2026 because as things stand now it's going to be a bloodbath in those Seattle games.I guess the draft will tell us how serious this team is about dethroning the Superbowl champs.
