A sad happy trails to John Brodie

My parents weren't even alive during most of his career, still it's sad to see him go. I'll always remember him as the guy who helped the Niners have their real first taste of success in the early 70s and flipping off the fans at Kezar after they were booing him. Respect

Like Steve Young following Joe Montana, Brodie played in the shadow of Y. A. Tittle even after Tittle was traded to the Giants for a guard named Lou Cordileone. Cordileone laughed about the trade for the 49ers getting so little for a QB who went on to the HOF.

Brodie went on to have a great career, but for the East Coast bias, he should be in the HOF himself.

He went on to earn some money playing Senior Golf. Those who saw him play, said he could have been a top golfer had he chosen golf instead of football.

He impacted so many. A life well lived.

Got to see him play in my first game at Kezar. I was able to brag about him to my Southern California relatives for a while RIP Sir

He retired two years before I was born, lol.

I saw him play both at Stanford and with the Niners. After he retired I sometimes saw him in a local bar in Palo Alto. He always drank light beer. Then I saw him play at a Seniors tour golf event at the Desert Inn in Las Vegas. He was a really good golfer. If he had played during this pass happy era his numbers would have been amazing.

He was always friendly to fans from what I saw.

I had no idea about him being a good golfer.

I saw him make an amazing shot at that tournament in Vegas. If Woods or one of the big name golfers made a shot like that at the Masters it would be talked about for years.

RIP. #12. Started my fandom with him as QB when I was a little kid.

SStill causes trauma for me. Not afraid to admit it. I'm a Staubachaphobe. I think of Roger Staubach the way other people think of hairy spiders and the number 13. Rest in peace sir you witnessed our revenge and I'm sure a burden was lifted from your soul.
