What a great quarterback. Unfortunate to run into Staubach at his prime. Dude was an MVP - really underrated.

I only knew him as a broadcaster but loved learning about those pre Walsh/Montana 49ers. RIP to one of the 49er great players and QBs.

Saw him one time at the Stick, 1st game I attended

I watched him lose to the Cowboys at Candlestick through no fault of his own. Got his autograph in the players parking lot. Before the days of huge salary he drove a Town Country Squire station wagon with his family to the game.

Awesome story, my dude. Ty for sharing.

If I'm not mistaken, when he retired, he was the third all-time in passing yards.

Those guys get overshadowed by the 80s and 90s teams, but some of our all-time greats are from those eras.

You are correct, Brodie was behind Johnny Unitas and Francis Tarkenton

Oh no. This is awful. He started my football obsession being on the cover of SI, "Look out for the 49ers"

Brodie to Washington, Brodie to Kwalick, what combos. No wonder they made it to the championship round.

Thanks for helping me along Mr. Brodie. You made it happen for a 9 year old, and 55 years later it's like yesterday.

Happy trails sir. You made a difference.
