Ferrell is a much more natural pass rusher and always has been. Keion can play both the pass and run. He sets the edge pretty strong and gets a little pass rush too. Did we honestly get better on pass rush? I think you can make the argument that we did. Mykel is a bull on setting the edge and so powerful. But I honestly think we get more push now and on passing downs and pressure. Weird how it worked. We might be better on that aspect now.
Mykel was a rookie with only a half dozen games under his belt. It is unfair to compare him to guys with multiple seasons. Based on what we did see this year, and the improvement he made, Williams will be a stud.
Mykel sets the edge really well. He's a bull with incredible power and length. I should say I like him. Just not sure of #11 overall. That's awful high for a set the edge guy. Not really down on him. Just he's not a natural pass rusher. Where Ferrell has been that all his life. Even Keion gets some push and pass rush pressure. So in a bizarre way I think we are honestly better at pass rush right now. Not in a way you would want. You don't want your players to get hurt. Williams can maybe improve. But I just don't think he's a natural pass rusher. Never was at Georgia either.
He wasn't drafted to be a pass rush specialist. He was drafted to be combo guy who could do multiple things well. He was beginning to do that when he was injured.
Williams is 21, kid is just sniffing what he could be. No one should be proclaiming anything good or bad right now.
I didn't really claim him bad. Just not a natural pass rusher. Our pass rush may actually be a little better now with him out and more natural pass rushers in.
