We absolutely must play a very clean game as far as penalties. Can't afford to wipe out big plays or stops on D.
Playing at home is good, but Carolina is peaking right now. Someone on defense is gonna need to make a big play. Just feel it.

My focus for our team this season is one game at a time. I'm not looking at the post season or beyond. What do you feel are the keys the Niners need to do to win next Monday night.
1. For me it is using Purdy to Kittle and using McCaffrey also to drive a wedge in the middle of the field, which Carolina's defense has struggled to do well this year.
2. Also it seems that Carolina hasn't done well defending tight ends in the midde of the field so I expect a big day from Kittle, especially with Purdy again leading the offense.
3. Defense . . . can the defense hold just enough to let the offense dominate? Can the offense dominate, buring up the clock to allow the defense not to be on the field a lot.
4. Score TD's in the red zone and not rely on field goals since Pineiro is out with his hamstring. What is it with hamstrings this year?
The Panthers have been stepping up but I do see a Niner victory here, at least I am really hoping for that as I think they need this one.

That is a good question.
Carolina has given up 27 sacks this season. I haven't watched too much of them but Young's problem has been holding the ball too long. Their OTs and OGs rate quite well in pass protection. hmmmmm
Maybe this is the week Huff and White can begin to show up.

I wonder if Huff is still dealing with his injury. He hasn't been the same since it happened.
It sucks because we're simply not able to generate any consistent pass rush these days. We're a smoke and mirror defense now. We gotta just make enough plays to get off the field(which is why a stupid penalty from Green was so terrible in the last game, on top of leading to Bethune's injury)
We need all the opposing offensive penalties we can get and all the mistakes possible by the other team's offense now.
And our offense really can't afford to disappear for long stretches anymore. We need TDs and we need them in bunches to have a chance at a serious run this year.

Peaking? PEAKING? A week before pulling out a tight game against the Falcons, this PEAKING Carolina Panthers team lost to the Saints. The same Saints that would be the worst team in all of football, had not the Raiders intervened to take that crown. Two weeks before that they got walloped by the Bills. They have improved somewhat over last year, which is a good thing. But I do not believe "PEAKING" is the right term to use here.

The Panthers are one of our competitors for a playoff spot. This is a game we need to win.

Why has Ferrell not been playing?

He is a better run defender than pass rusher, but he has not been as good at that as he was when he was with us the first time. I would not be surprised to see him waived.

Expecting Pearsall to have a big day. He was used sparingly returning from injury and perhaps as a decoy too. We really haven't let it rip downfield much. If Brock has time and 68 gets help perhaps we will get some deep passes in.
