Just your friendly reminder that McVay's Rams once scored 3 points in a Super Bowl.

Yet he learned from his mistakes and led them to a SB win three years later.

Both are great coaches. But.....Sneid>ShanaLynch. Kyle should not have as much say on the roster as he does.

"Learned from his mistakes" lol weird way to say he got a better qb lmao

There is a great interview with McVay on that SB game. To paraphrase, he reflects that the 2 week prep window gave him probably too much time to watch every single Patriots game from that season. From that, he thought he understood the defense(s) that they might run, and designed and practiced the offense specifically for those defenses. Within the first series, McVay is on the headphones saying Patriots are running a defense from several years prior -- a la he saw the issue immediately. But with his young team, they struggled to make big adjustments to the game plan to account for the unexpected defense.

I suspect the takeaway for McVay --
>don't tailor a game plan so specifically you can't adjust when needed.
>have some built in flexibility to the plan
>and experience at key positions can be critical when you need to make gameplan adjustments

I think that's where McVay has the advantage, but not as a coach. Think their FO is better at giving him talent to work with.

I mean on the d line sure. And Stafford.

As Carolina showed their back 7 is still terrible and being hidden by the rush.
Is KS offense TOO complex? (different than innovative)

If you have an offensive system that is so complex you can hardly play rookies, and yet you are reliant on rookies in case of injuries -
- Maybe your offense needs some work to simplify it
- and maybe you need a plan on how to involve your rookies on specific plays so that you are getting them experience

I always come back to Andy Reid getting their 2 WR starters injured in a game against us - he inserted rookies - changed the game plan on the fly to accomodate a simpler set of plays for them, and still torched us. That flexibility seems to be lacking in KS system - and even his mindset.

#2 overall offense that year...putting up 3 points in the SB vs a defense that was 7th in points allowed/21st in yards allowed.

Can you imagine Shanahan doing that?

Learned from his mistakes - shipped off Goff and got Stafford, Jalen Ramsey, Von Miller, OBJ and then got a much weaker opponent in the SB.

What a great lesson.

Damn who could ever see Bill Belichick doing something that didn't fit his tendency from that season in the biggest game...
This will be hilarious to come back to in 3 weeks. Lmao

Funny enough, unless we manage to blow the rest of the season and miss the playoffs, we will at minimum match what the Rams did in their rebuild season in 2023.

That was great coaching. This is just luck.

Koldo and the good Dr will tell you if you don't believe me.

Or Charlie can explain to you how the Chargers season is actually more impressive with less injuries and an easier schedule.
