SCHEME - McVay is innovating on offense quicker than KS. A la his heavy TE sets this year. His innovations seem bolder and more intentional. KS's offense scheme seems to be getting stale and defenses are catching up to it. KS innovation with Deebo was almost lucked into by necessity, remember it happened mid-season due to RB injuries, not a pre-season innovation plan. KS innovation seems to rely more on highly unique athletes -- Deebo, CMC, even Kittle.

ROSTER - The Rams have rebuild quickly after the loss, and this year they have TWO 1st round picks if they want to find a future QB, OT, or premiere DE.

OVERALL - It seems like 49ers have another year of reloading ahead at least -- improvements needed in so many areas, and aging plays in key roles - OT, IOL upgrades, DT still needed, WR (if BA doesn't return to form), TE (Kittle can't play elite forever), RB (CMC appears to already have lost a little burst). CB upgrade. So again, it seems like 9ers hold onto their older players longer while Rams are willing to (and been more successful) reloading quickly.

THOUGHTS?

Our offense just looked as good as the Rams with backups playing vs the number one defense as they did playing vs our bottom third defensive unit. McKay has had twice now the first QB taken in that years draft running his offense and we've had Jimmy G and the last pick of the draft

Can you imagine what Kyle would have done with Stafford?

Cmon man. Perspective here

Kyle could have had Stafford or Brady for that matter.

It's 1-0. If shanahan wins one then it's at least equal footing.

Win 2 and then they would be a step behind us. If they win another then it's two steps behind.

This year is moot. We would be right near fighting for the top of the division without the injuries.

The reality is this year the AFC is really week so it's possible without injuries we might have won a SB even with Kyle making some crappy in game personnel decisions, adjustments, or clock management...

49ers are now 11-7 overall vs the Rams how are they a step behind? The Rams are always healthy, the 49ers have been the most injured team in the last two seasons. The problem the Rams have is that they have s**tty fans, could you imagine if there was a sea of blue at Levis?

But Les Snead>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>John Lynch

I'll give them that.

We aren't a step behind. Just another silly post that happens after a loss. If the Niners had a full roster they probably would win that game.

it should NO LONGER a concern... we were once the better team, but that's no longer the case... we once had a better HC, but that's no longer the case either.. McVay did what was best in order to win a Super Bowl.. He gave up a lot of picks and signed or trade for players that will get him a ring...

he did not care about the idea of landing Diamonds in the Rough type of players, nor did he care about over paying players... he also did not care about trying to win a Super Bowl where all the credits will be his.. he wanted to win .. while our HC wanted to win but wants all the credit... he stayed with players who he can point the fingers to when he doesn't win..

You really think a healthy team coached by Shanahan and Saleh is "well behind" the Rams in terms of talent level and coaching? Didn't we just beat them in week 5 with a depleted team? What does that say about the Rams and how well coached/talented they are?

Of course they will have the deeper playoff run this year. That's common sense.

Well their coach WON the Super Bowl. Ours never has. So there is a pretty big difference right there.

SAN... haven't I told you before that you'll never win the argument with the Shannanigans here.. his followers here still have yet to see clearly enough that our windows have closed because our HC had not made any adjustment to make this team better... he still believes too much that he can win all by himself w/any players in the roster..

I still wonder what great coach you want to replace Kyle?

TBH - the Seattle and Rams wins this season we a bit of luck. It's not like we convincingly won those games. Just saying.

We won those games because we out coached the competition

The Rams are hoping & praying Stafford's back holds out. They were sweating bullets before this season started when he missed most of the offseason and there was some doubt he could go to start the season. But then he was cleared just before this season started. He's had a history of back issues and is turning 38 this Feb.

Or, any other injury he might suffer as he continues to age. The Rams minus Stafford would be up the creek without a paddle.

Yet even with Stafford this season, the Niners beat the Rams while playing without their QB1 Purdy and also no Kittle, Bosa, Aiyuk, and Pearsall.

Kolohe's above stat...11-7 vs. the Rams during Shanahan's time here.
Hey nothing against you, LottD: But I'm really tired of hearing how Stafford just may break in two any day now. Sometimes I think it's just Rams propaganda, so that opposing teams will "take it easy" on the guy when playing them.

What is it now? Stafford has 4 straight games with 3 TDs and no interceptions?
Or, is it 3 straight games with 4 TDs and no interceptions?
The aging QB has just set a new NFL record for a span of consecutive games with those TDs/0 Ints. numbers.
Anyway, the 49ers beat them once. They can beat them again.
Or any team for that matter.

McVay is a better COACH than Shanahan. Shanahan is a better play caller no doubt. But McVay knows what his role is for the team, makes aggressive moves for players only when he needs to (and lets the front office deal with the rest) and he maximizes his players potential on the field.

Kyle OTOH is a horrible defacto GM that can't draft for s**t, is absolutely garbage with game management (see punting the ball on 4th down end of 1st half vs Rams on a 4th and 7 with 20 seconds left on their side of the field. see no sense of urgency with playcalling/no huddle offense until 5 min left in the game), an apparently doesn't know OT rules.

so yes the Rams do have a leg up on us. Don't let the regular season record fool you. When it counted the Rams beat us in the NFCC game then went on to win a SB. An it looks like McVay will have his squad competing for another this year after a mini rebuild while this team looks awful.
Rams have an elite QB, world of difference. There were so many fans, on here, not wanting him. Look at the last 10-12 years of SB QBs, who's not elite or HoF ? Maybe Goff & the QBs Kyle took there.

heard the rams are struggling with creating a fanbase and could use some bodies like you, Jose and Moon.
As long as we have an inept GM the answer is yes.
