GEORGE SEIFER Obituary

George N. Seifer, 84, died suddenly June 1, 2010, at his home in Rotterdam. Born and educated in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Nelson and Stella (Rooney) Seifer. A graduate of the GE Apprenticeship Program, he was a manager for over 40 years at the General Electric Company in the gas turbine department. George retired in 1986. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of WWII who served in Operation Tiger LST 499, Operation Overlord LST499 and the Korean Campaign. George served with the Navy from 1943 to 1946 and 1950 to 1954. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, the GE Quarter Century Club, GE Apprentice Alumni, GE Athletic Assoc., DAV Chapter 88, Rotterdam Democratic Committee, Young at Heart Senior Citizens, Sampson WWII Navy veterans and U.S. LST Assoc. George was predeceased on December 30, 2009 by his beloved wife, Suzanne V. (Jackiewicz) Seifer. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Gentiluomo (Paul) of Rotterdam, Margaret Vrooman of Glenville and Debbie Le Tarte (Herb) of Rotterdam; and five grandchildren, Mark and David Morris, Kelly and Herbie Le Tarte and Michael Vrooman. George was also predeceased by his sister, Betty Loehr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Bradt Street, Schenectady, NY on Monday, June 7, 2010.
