They had him as a standup rusher in Philly and it just never worked out,..his last two seasons under Saleh he was a top 11 pass rusher. I don't see that as a flash in the pan.

That defense was stacked and maybe he bumped heads with their DC. He's known as old school and had issues with players in Miami too.
dudes talented and now under a coach who loves him and knows how to use him.
this is a much needed pick up for us. I love it
Eagles tried to get him to play OLB, rushing the passer standing up when he had prior success under Saleh as a pure DE.
Under Saleh in 2022 and 2023 he had the 10th and 11th overall pass rush grade among all edge defenders.
In 2023, PFF had Huff at 2nd in pass rush productivity behind only Micah Parsons. I mean it's PFF and all, so take it for what it's worth.
His stats look good under Saleh with the Jets. So maybe this is good. How many years do we have him for? Is this a one year deal? Or 2 or more? He's capable of sacks. Salary is a little high.
This team really likes fixing up the defense. LOL. Never a thought of you know.....Offensive Line. Just an after thought. We had many huge holes. Some I'm ok with this route. But next year you can't just pick all defense in the draft, FA, trades. Time for some Offensive Line in 2026.
So how is he as a run defender? Is he just purely a pass rush guy? Thats fine if he is, im just trying to figure out how we will use him.
we need a pass rush guy regardless, especially all the guys around him now good at run blocking. I'm just happy we have a good vet in the room now. The youth made me a little nervous

You don't want him defending the run. Pure pass rusher IMO.
Gives you a pretty solid pass rush package with Bosa, Williams, X, Huff. X being whichever DT shows the best pass rush potential or maybe YGM inside as well.

I'm gonna wait and see on this one. I can't get over the fact that this guy was a healthy scratch for the SB...
But hopefully Saleh can work his magic with him. Gives us a speed rusher on obvious pass downs. Hoping the compensation isn't anything serious.
According to Brian Baldinger (sp); Huff is a situational pass rusher which makes our first round pick a very great decision if it all works out. If Williams isn't getting to the QB RS can slide him inside on passing downs in that nascar package and bring Huff in to rush off the edge. Situational pass rusher is different than what the eagles were asking him to do, they wanted him to play OLB including dropping into coverage which is not his game. He was effective with the Jets as a situational edge rusher on passing downs.
The 27-year-old pass rusher's best season came under Saleh in 2023 with the Jets, finishing with 10 sacks, 29 tackles, 21 quarterback hits, and one pass defensed, per Pro Football Reference. The defensive end earned a Pro Football Focus pass rush grade of 86.8 or higher in each of his last two seasons (2022, 2023) with the Jets.
"Under Saleh in 2023, Huff had a career-high 10 sacks and 68 pressures on just 312 pass rush snaps -- the best pressure rate in the NFL at 21.8%, per Next Gen Stats," Schefter added.

Rare trade that can work out well for both sides. Huff was a bad fit in Philadelphia and the Eagles save some money and get a pick back for a guy who was doing nothing there.
