It's wishful thinking, but I was mostly just playing around with Moon

He has to, it's our karma
The early D line draftees are my favourites, but I mark this guy as someone to keep an eye on. After a year he could be on the other side from Puni.

I'd put money on Bartch or Burford starting; not Colby. Remember; what happened with Puni was by accident; he would've never been starting had Burford and Feliciano been healthy to begin the season.

By "a number of analyst," who are you talking about? I haven't seen anyone saying that Colby is a baller and surprised he wasn't taken earlier?

Hes not talking about anybody. I did alot of scouting and research on Colby and thought he would be a 49ers target. At best he had a 5th round grade. Many teams would remove from boards due to inability to play gap/power schemes and being weak on pass sets. He always profiled to a run heavy, play action heavy, zone structured team.

That being said, the 49ers are a great spot for him. I highly doubt he's a day 1 starter, but injuries are always part of the game on the OL. I wouldnt be surprised if he makes an appearance mid season. He has a ton of experience and made Academic All Big Ten multiple times. He'll be quick to pick up the protections. Trent covers for a lot of deficiencies on the left side. And if we can be successful running the ball, Colby can go to work.

A number of analysts said they were surprised Colby wasn't taken earlier...dude's a genuine baller, exactly what the OL needs. So, now, Brendel will have Colby on one side, Puni on the other. Would love to see Drake Nugent earn the job, even Hennessey. At least with two bad-ass OG's next to him, Brendel would be better protected. Like the UDFA OL Drew Moss, too. The OL's not nearly as devoid of talent as some seem to think. Bartch will be in the mix along with others.

Yeah I didn't hear any analyst saying they were surprised he was taken so late. Maybe he was a 6th rd guy vs a 7th rd guy.

it will be interesting to see how he works out this off season. The job is pretty open right now. What he's really good at is what SF covets and that's run blocking…especially zone blocking.

I was listening to the Iowa OC talk about him and he was pretty transparent about Colby. Day 1 can step in and run out ZBS well. Super smart and professional. What he's gonna have to work on is pass pro and getting stronger.
I'm excited to see him and Moss compete for a job. Would love to see a new center this year as well. Let's go Nugent!

Hopefully a sign of things to come for the rookie.

mannnn.. one thing those Hawkeyes can do is RUN BLOCK !!! I wonder if he can play Center.

we used to develop OGs at the center position when the legendary Bob Mc was the line coach.. I say we get back to his program !!

Interestingly, Connor Colby's pass blocking grade was better than his run blocking grade against Denver. It's a nice story and hopefully he is a guy who plays better than he practices. Some guys are just gamers, maybe he is one of those.

I believe Foerester talked about him actually being a better pass blocker than run blocker.
Sounds like Colby and Moss played pretty well for their first game action. Giving some hope at least to the OL depth. Hopefully, they both continue to develop and get better the more they play.
2 first names no first downs
Colby has jumped into the 2's and now 1's.

it seems like he looks suspect on one on one drills, but plays well in team drills in actual games.

could he be the LG?

could moss be th C of the future?
