Also Higgins and Noel were not no names, nor were they off the street. Let's not be ridiculous here.

Here is the throw btw. Once again Watkins or any other WR needs to make this catch but it is high and far from a lolipop type of throw. Maybe a little more touch on that allows an easier grab.

That's NFL open. And that's also my point. The vast majority of players that are drafted cannot make the jump to the NFL. I expect Watkins will call into this category. He hasn't been able to stay healthy, and the 1 NFL worthy play he could have made, he failed.

We'll see, anything could happen, but arrow down on this dude

... Jalen Hurt / Ronnie Bell / Jacob Cowing and counting

I gotta say this site has so many posters running in with insane hyperbole with nothing behind it.

First of all it's Jalen Hurd, who looked like a great pick who simply got a terrible rash of injuries so we never got to see him play in real games. I still recall a time when after his first preseason game fans were voting him to lead the team in receiving that season...

So I'll leave this question open for both of you guys - what makes Watkins a bust like you're inferring? I'd even ask that about Cowing but I know how you guys are about injured players - apparently they're just instant failures and can never be healthy again.

That goes to show you how insanely overrated and overhyped are players on the Webzone.

You didn't answer the question did you? It also wasn't on the webzone. It was a twitter poll.

It was basically the same opinion around here. You can go check his thread.

Ps. frenchmov just answered your question about Watkins.

So you whole evaluation is based on the majority of players? Forget the reports out of camp, the praise from the coaches and the fact that he gets open on every pass attempt in his first NFL game strictly because he couldn't catch a leaping grab up in the air?

You can point that arrow wherever you want but having over the top expectations is a you problem. Kid was taken in the last pick of the 4th round and you're acting like he should go out there and be Randy Moss like as a rookie.

French wasn't even the guy who made those comments. You can't answer for yourself?

Over the top expectations is not being injured for 3 months? Over the top expectations is to make *A* open catch??

Damn, I'll return to this thread in a couple years after he is released with like 15 catches for 107 yards

Injuries are injuries. Can happen to anyone. I didn't have high expectations for him this yr.

I literally had no clue who he was out there, I just saw 17 f**king up lol. First game for a day 3 WR prospect that we should have been depending on to make plays right now. Hopefully he improves.

Injuries are injuries, but if you can't stay healthy nothing else matters. There are tons of talented players throughout history who never became anything because they couldn't stay healthy. Whether you want to blame it on bad luck, bad training, bad nutrition, whatever, that's all part of it.

Again, likely another wasted pick based on what we've seen so far

This.

Unfortunately, Pearsall is trending that way too, which is a shame cause he is a talented player.
A 4th round pick gets injured during his rookie season? Who can we sack for this? Time to call the waaambulance.

And you can literally say that for every single team every single yr with draft picks, especially on day 3

I don't understand being upset over this? Sometimes you hit the lottery and get a Kittle or Puka with those day 3 picks…that's clearly not the norm or something that should be realistic

That's football man…being talent isn't enough at the highest level. It's why only the few make those record breaking contracts.

If your expectations were a bottom 4th round WR for the 49ers would be a top tier contributor that's over the top expectations.

Him being injured for 3 months(i'd love to hear your math on that) isn't ideal but it's also part of the game. There have been plenty of excellent players who were injured early in their careers who went on to have great careers.

For the record I'm not saying Watkins is going to be a stud for us. I simply take issue with fans calling young players busts before they show one way or another who they are. I have no doubt you'll be here if that happens. Question is will you be here if he turns into a pretty good WR for us and own the fact that you were premature in your evaluation?

It's not about this particular player, it's about the increasing number of draft picks this FO has whiffed on.

Rook only played yesterday as his first game, we all should give him a break from droppin this pass... he showed some talent during the OTAs.

lets give him the season or two at least..

Is he? Because he finally has a football related injury which has kept him out a lot longer than we expected?

He didn't miss any games due to injury in college. He didn't miss any games due to a football injury last year. He played on a banged up knee and fell awkwardly clearly making it worse. Did we really not learn to relax on the injury stuff with Jimmie Ward and Armstead?

Pearsall was like the 3rd WR in yards until he got injured. I think he's showing he can absolutely play as far as injuries keeping him from being anything...that's very early to say that.
