I generally don't like small players, they seem to be injured more often, and they, by simple physics, struggle to get to high balls to taller receivers. Cooper Kup is 6 inches taller.

That said, he's compact and has good power and if the officials let him be physical he can really disrupt offenses in the slot.

Hight at the NCB position isn't as big an issue imo. FWIW he's very similar in size to Reed and Verrett and both those dudes played outside.

imo it was a little early to take him and I was under the impression that they needed a true boundary guy.

I know it's not as big a deal, my point was that it still matters, and some slot receivers are going to have tools to exploit his size.

If he's decent it means Demo moves outside is my guess.

Part of my concern is Saleh wasn't a bump scheme guy and my guess is Upton would be best playing very physical at the point.

Either way I'm excited to see what comes of this.
I like this guy's mentality. Classic smaller guy ( I am a smaller statured fellow; so, I can feel this dude.) working out with people bigger than him (in his case, he was lifting with the linemen) and demonstrating the "want-to" that it takes to be successful.

Yeah I mean you toss a big NCB in there like Oliver, he still can get exposed plenty.

stout actually has longer arms than Barron and damn near the same as Johnson…while being 2" and 4" shorter.

one NCB I wanted last yr was Mike Sainristil, DC grabbed him top of the 2nd. Damn near identical measureables. For me personally, if I'm taking a boundary CB early I need some sort of thresholds there as far as length and speed goes (there's always outliers)…above all I want that twitchy CB that has the mentality of being a dog. Willing tackler.

we will see how he goes, if he ends up as a K Williams type of NCB, that's a home run. I still feel like Demo should be out NCB though.

I would hope they adjust by matchup.

Luter finding consistency and Sigle being to play CB could be big.
This 'little motherf**ker' might already be the p4p strongest dude on the team. 21 reps on the bench translates to around a 400-pound max bench. That's f**king crazy for a guy that's 5-8, 180 pounds. I wonder if he was a powerlifter because those are elite numbers.

Imagine being 5-8, 180 pounds going to use the bench after some of the DL/OL and proceeding to add weight to the bar.

89th percentile among all DBs at bench. I didn't realize he put up those numbers

Shouldn't be 100th percentile since he had the highest bench among DBs?

Yea, he's growing on me. I can't say I liked/loved the pick but I can see him doing well with his strength and mentality.

Kind of hate to say it since I like it when people like players on the team for any reason ... but shorter arms makes a HUGE difference in bench.

That said, no doubt he's ... Stout.

Yes, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he's an absolute powerhouse relative to his peers.

There were 10 DBs with shorter arms at the combine--all of whom outweighed Upton--he outbenched them all. In fact, Upton was the 3rd lightest DB at the combine, yet he outbenched every single DB there. Dude is a f**king bull.

it would be nice if he was a tad taller but I think he has a lot of qualities to like - super strong, I like his athleticism, awesome dog mentality, fearless, confident. He seems to be made of the right stuff.

Itll be interesting to see how he does covering guys at this level.

It's based on since they've been tracking that info not just that season.
