I think their idea is to draft the players they want when they can, even if a bit higher than expected, over the risk of losing them. If they become starters, no one care what late round they were drafted or they were a bit overdrafted.
Don't think it's right or wrong. Just a way of navigating the draft as a team.

Even players that werent favorites got good second contracts in Banks and Moore.
They are better at drafting than fans give them credit for but when you start with Thomas and Kinlaw while swapping Brown for MM (even though MM was a better fit for Kyle)... fans arent gonna be to kind after that when late rounders and UDFAs are replacing day 2 picks, thats not even bringing up kickers.
