He already admitted he doesn't actually watch the all22 film. He's literally responded to clips most see as positive with criticism. This isn't a "i'm right and you're all wrong" situation. And if we're talking about proper expectations it most certainly seems like Since's expectations are way out there.

Now I just went and watched Alfred's reps from this game and it wasn't his best game, he looked better vs the Saints. However it also wasn't terrible and it most certainly wasn't a game to criticize for a rookie unless you have absurd expectations in the first place.

Collins made an impact on two key plays. The run stop before the Cardinals threw for the tying TD. Fred and Sam got the credit for that stop but Collins beats his man inside and gets the penetration and prevents Benson from being able to go forward as Fred and Sam wrap him up. The play gets forgotten since Arizona still got the TD the snap after but it was a really good play by Collins in that situation.

And then on 2nd and 9 before the 2 minute warning. If he doesn't maintain his gap or get into the running lane causing Benson to slow up as Fred got in there as well it's likely a first down and we're 2-1 right now.

It's hard to take someone seriously when they claim to watch the game focusing on the OL/DL play only...and then can't even see when a player they're criticizing is not on the field.

I didn't remember a play like that watching Collins' snaps just now. Could be since the DTs on that play were Jordan Elliott and Kalia Davis...

So someone explain to me how you can watch so closely during a game live(when you don't know what's going to happen) and even on a highlight replay you can't spot the actual player you're evaluating?

Geeze that wasn't even Collins? Makes sense rewatched that play a few times cause I couldn't believe it. Id like to see the "2" plays you're talking about cause some of the things posted in here are over exaggerated like him beating multiple double teams. Or him making a tackle when 3 guys were already there. I don't have wild expectations I'm simply not impressed by him don't think he's that good right now. He's been terrible to now bad to "ok" at best. I came in down playing the ridiculous hype and now a lot of you think I hate the guy

I don't recall anyone coming in with ridiculous hype here. People were simply encouraged to see his growth since he was the rookie getting the least buzz in camp.

You're welcome to rewatch those two plays I mentioned. They're easy to find since one happens the play before Arizona scores their TD and the other is on their last 2nd down of the game.

Well, he will be playing a lot more probably with Williams playing more outside. Reps are the best teacher

There were definitely video posts saying he was beating doubles but really blockers were coming off. On top of that his "improvement" was against the saints. Which I pointed out that's not an impressive team nor did he look good against them. I'd like to see how he fairs against the Rams / Bucs. You even said he didn't play that good, last game, the 1 thing I see is his motor has got better but he's also rotating. Think he was out there more in preseason when he was getting gassed. I just don't see the big leap forward others have seen since week 1

It'll be interesting to see who and how they play with Bosas absence. Could see Mykel staying inside with Huff, Matos, or Okuay outside on passing downs. Think you might have to dial up more blitz packages if you're saleh

He didn't play as well vs Arizona but he also wasn't terrible. I think you're forgetting where the guy was to start training camp. There was like no buzz about the guy. All the kudos were going towards the other rookies. Almost all of them were getting good reports except for Alfred.

That's what most remember so obviously when you start to see the improvement people get excited. And he did look good vs the Saints. He wasn't Aaron Donald or anything but he was making an impact and you could see the growth if you weren't somehow watching with hater shades on.

We'll see how he continues to grow but the improvement doesn't mean all pro instantly. It's him seeing things faster, using better technique, more diverse set of moves, etc. Obviously opponents matter but it's still about growth and overall you can't say the defense played poorly with him.

That's where I disagree he didn't look good against the saints, he had a couple nice plays but it's the saints… Seems like you guys think me saying "I'm not impressed" "he didn't play good" thus far that means I expect an all pro level of play or he should be "cut" it's the over exaggeration of his development with more rotation against mid to bad teams I'm skeptical of.
This is exactly why they drafted Alfred Collins. Dude takes on the double team, splits it and punches the ball out.

Dude was huge in us winning today. Both on this play and the last one.
Huge play for the young man. Saved the game literally at the last possible foot before the goal line.
Nice to seem him actually do something on the field for once!

Yup we don't win this game without Alfred.
This group of young defenders is only going to get better.
