As long as he doesn't get injured, he's going to be a solid contributor.

I don't think he'll get more playing time than Anderson and West, that could change later in the season, especially if he catches on fast.

Before givens was injured Anderson was more on the bubble with Valdez' camp performance with a technique that was more needed. Now new pickup Hector is Givens obvious replacement for now.

West, Collins, Valdez, Anderson, Davis/Hector ... if Givens goes on IR. That group has 1 "veteran". Yikes.

We talking bout practice, not a game not a game, practice!

Like Saleh says, Collins doesn't need to be a pro bowler right now. He just needs to get better each day. Patience with Collins, he will get there.
We just need him to maintain the line of scrimmage and eat up 2 OL on running plays.

Collins will be shocked at how much more explosive NFL o-linemen are compared to college

He's already shocked in camp. Practice. Not a game not a game
Sounds like some good reps today
Sell me your Alfred Collins stock. Bull-pull move straight out of the Chris Jones arsenal. This was one of the moves I always wanted Javon Kinlaw to implement because it's perfect for IDL with these builds. That never happened, but Collins continues to work on it. Once this dude gets settled in, I think he's going to make a lot of people on here look silly.

I feel
good that he had your seal of approval.

I sense you like Mykel, west and Collin's?

Yes sirrr, I definitely like all 3 DL picks with CJ West being my favorite pick in the entire draft.

When I read that Collins was struggling to get off blocks in practice, that told me this dude's head is spinning trying to process everything around him after missing so much time because getting off blocks was one of his biggest strengths on tape. Dude straight up manhandled SEC OL at the point of attack in college. He needs a lot of refinement in the pass rush department. His timing, footwork and transitional moves are lacking. I also think he could drop some weight, but that's probably something to focus on the next year after his rookie season is behind him.

That's the dream. I like seeing the reports of progress. All you can ask in a kid who missed OTAs/Minicamps. Even if he's just giving us the big body in the middle to help vs the run it's an improvement over last year. If he can keep growing as a pass rusher and add that to his game...sky is the limit for the kid.
The more I think about it the more I dislike this pick not that I think he busts. He was definitely drafted for need, Josh Simmons, Jihaad Campbell and Will Johnson who I was hoping for all fell in striking distance. They are all killing it in camp and went to rivals Chiefs, Eagles, Cardinals This guy is just really big and that's about it

It's pointless playing the what if game so early in their careers.

Even more so playing the what if game for guys who clearly were too high/risky to draft at 11 but weren't there at 43. Will Johnson is the only guy who we had a chance to grab instead of Collins. I do think the clear need at DT forced our hand on that pick with the DT run that happened earlier. I know had we taken Johnson it would've been an absolute slam dunk pick IMO.

Having said that I hope in a few years Collins is a major contributor for us at an all pro level and Johnson's injury concerns prove to have been valid(and that's not me rooting for injuries, just simply don't want to see a division rival get a top 10 corner for peanuts)
Looks like he's doing better than West now, CJ has been quiet since his fast start

Excited about his progress
have you had a chance to watch Valdez? Started reading his pre draft write ups as I was hearing his name in camp. Interesting prospect
