Rookies are STRONGLY advised to not get involved in contract negotiations. Like the NFLPA rookie symposium is half about letting their agents negotiate and the other half is about drugs and women :)

Players arent desperate, many got some bread off NIL deals. Its business from start to finish nowadays.

Players dont get scared off or coerced by the whole rah rah, iron fist rule stuff anymore. They know money will come and listen to their agents advise. To me that makes sense, just like listening to your lawyer and not going to talk to the cops even if you did nothing wrong. Its not an adversarial relationship, its just business.

Guess our guy was the one who really wanted to be at camp. Wooo hoooo

Is there any reason to think Alfred personally got involved in making it happen?

Minor. This ain't Rice-like drama. More like Stokes.

I was being facetious. I didn't include the /s.

Saleh has his toy box complete now so there should be no excuses if the defense doesn't show major improvement.

Yes. The NFLPA Rookie symposium is about half about players keeping out of contract talk PARTICULARLY as rookies.

When it comes to rookies not signing it's almost entirely started and maintained by agents. It's just the game they play.

Nothing proven either way of course but given the fact that he was the first 2nd round pick to sign after the holdup with everyone waiting for the fully guaranteed money, I would imagine he put the pressure on knowing how important camp reps would be for his playing time this year.

What was it like $1 mill of his contract that isn't guaranteed? Seems to me like he still "won" lol

None besides wishful thinking from fans imo, but its all pure speculation either way.

Imo if anything Id say its slightly more likely the Niners wanted a rookie they need to play a lot this year on a completely new Dline, to get in the building ASAP

But again, it's just speculation. I do think many want a feel good type story about how our guy is the one who wanted to not be "greedy" and take one for the team as opposed to money. Its like a moral dopamine hit.

lol. it's really not that much of a leap to think that a player wants to start his career on the right track and practice with his teammates.

as opposed to like 30 other players from 2nd round who did exactly the same thing and are (were) in exactly the same situation ?

thats kinda my point, really. if you want to position it as a player who wants to start on the right track, then there were a couple of players who signed before him. so I guess he wanted to start his career on the right track, but not quite as fast like those players ? lol

to me its really irrelevant. its all a part of business and as long as the guy is in the building when TC starts it doesnt matter who and what and how. Id even get it if someone misses out on TC because they want a bit more and they think they can get it. which is usually handled by agents anyway.

I dont see any reasoning to say that it was the player out of his sheer will to get right to work, aside from him being a 49er. If he wasnt a 49er, do you think many on here would say that ?

Respect to Alfred for being the first to break through this stupid 2nd round backlog. I think he got it pushed through and told his agent to move on this. He had several guys ahead of him to wait on who also should've been in rookie camps.

Ha. It's not really stupid tho. The owners are milking the players dry with this latest CBA. Issues like these are their only way of fighting back.

I mean we've got collusion going on to save money while these guys are bashing each other's brains out. Given the physical risk, more of these guys should be getting GTD money but it's kinda reserved for upper-echelon players as we move to 18 games.
