Agree. Glad it is over & he can get on the field

I wonder if now we will see a domino effect with all the other 2nd RD draftees who haven't yet signed.

That's what the news is reporting. It should be a big domino effect. I'm really surprised 2nd round picks never had anything guaranteed anyway. That's honestly pretty high. Injury risk is great. So I'm not surprised them and their agent want a good deal.
Now that's done. Take care of JJ next. Then maybe land a solid vet at a position of need.
Now dont be a bust.
Respect to Collins and his agent for not holding out for every last guaranteed dollar and for having the balls to be the first ones to sign. Shows me he wants to get to camp and get to work.

Yeah, not a fan of this move. I'm a little tired of players b***hing about the owners having all the power while they extort their way to getting what they want in most cases. I really kinda wanted the NFL to say f**k you to these 2nd rounders. I'm really sour because of our personal pains: BA, Deebo, Trent, etc... And it's not like they're getting bad deals in the first place but greed takes over every time. I mean at this point, what are multi-year contracts even for? I guess just renew every contract at the start of every year. I mean, as soon as a player b***hes, they get what they want.

But the owners won. He didn't get the fully guaranteed deal they are all holding out for.

Great, want him to get as much camp as possible. Expect him to contribute this season

You can't blame Collins for wanting to get the most GTD of his rookie deal.

Particularly since Collins was likely never asked for his opinion.
I didn't realize how much bigger he is than both Armstead & Buckner, they are both an inch taller but he's 40lbs heavier!

I sure hope he can play.

Extort? Most players who resort to the tactics you are calling out are at a place where the team can just say F off and you get nothing.

And any b***hing player getting what they want should tell you how 1 sided it is. Because the teams would not cave if it was not in their best interest.

I will not side with a player year 2 in a 5 year deal wanting more. However, if it is wanting more guaranteed i will usually support that.

This is a masterstroke from the team, and very sensible by the agent. They came up with a number acceptable to both of them so they could get him in the building. Either could have stood fast waiting for the other contracts around him to be signed.

Anyone blaming Collins just doesn't know football, it's likely he had to give the green light for anything less than a fully guaranteed deal.
Respect to Alfred for being the first to break through this stupid 2nd round backlog. I think he got it pushed through and told his agent to move on this. He had several guys ahead of him to wait on who also should've been in rookie camps.

Not a bad deal for either side. Get in camp young man and start pushing those sleds and OLmen around.

Rookies are STRONGLY advised to not get involved in contract negotiations. Like the NFLPA rookie symposium is half about letting their agents negotiate and the other half is about drugs and women :)

Players arent desperate, many got some bread off NIL deals. Its business from start to finish nowadays.

Players dont get scared off or coerced by the whole rah rah, iron fist rule stuff anymore. They know money will come and listen to their agents advise. To me that makes sense, just like listening to your lawyer and not going to talk to the cops even if you did nothing wrong. Its not an adversarial relationship, its just business.

Guess our guy was the one who really wanted to be at camp. Wooo hoooo

I hope not...let the other teams deal with their own BS. Including both Houston and Cleveland who set this issue up in the first place and still have their 2nd 2nd round pick to sign.

Cleveland especially is in a "fun" spot right now since they also had the 4th pick in the 2nd round...and the kid got arrested for domestic violence a few days ago.

Also hoping Seattle safety holds out for the fully guaranteed deal and then Kittle and the boys make Seattle regret it
