Too damn funny
If these guys are half what we hope this is going to be a fun year.
The D lineman they drafted all appear to be good size and really sturdy. All were good run stuffers in college. If they can learn to shoot gaps and penetrate more under the new coaching then the Niners D will be back.

Lol CJ West acting like a dude that is 6'1" and 318 isn't like a walking, talking refrigerator. No way you miss that guy in a crowd.
Cohn already labeling Collins Javon Kinlaw 2.0, guy is the biggest idiot. Rookie minicamp is glorified warmup drills. No pads, no "move the ball" session.

I think one of Kins biggest issues was health, he needed to play more to improve. He has pad level issues, but you saw flashes (in SF and NJ) as a pass rusher.

Overall we're all hoping for more with Collins, IMO I don't really see a pass rushing DT and I don't really know if that's what he will ever be…Maybe they can get him down in weight play that 3-tech role and he can be a little more explosive/twitchy (than he was at Texas).

Wasn't the route I thought they were going. Got two of the.best IDL vs the run in this draft, but have a lot to be desired as pass rushers. I would have kept Collins if the plan was to go after guys like west and Collins.

My hope is him becoming a Vita Vea clone. Just be disruptive and occupy multiple blockers without giving up ground.
I don't think Kinlaw and Collins are similar if you look past the height and weight. Kinlaw was super high cut to the point where he struggled to get in a balanced stance without his butt elevating. Collins has a much more proportional build with a lower center of gravity. Like NY said, Kinlaw was super twitched up and more explosive than Collins. However, there are glaring differences in their power. While Kinlaw was probably every bit as powerful as Collins in raw strength, his power wasn't consistently footbal functional. He struggled to apply his power due to poor body control, pad level and balance. He'd constantly have problems maintaining a base, playing low and staying upright while unleashing that power, which was essentially self-neutralizing.

Collins, on the other hand, is a colossal man who plays on his feet, a strong base and MANHANDLES people at the point of attack. This dude consistently week-after-week locks horns, stays balanced and throws IOL out the way and onto their ass. He has an extremely functional power to his game while Kinlaw never did that with any consistency.

As pass rushers go, they're probably on similar levels, but I actually think Collins shows a little more in the toolbox than Kinlaw did coming out. What I really just want to see from Collins in year 1 is domination against the run(especially against inside zone+duo), driving IOL straight back in rush downs, and demonstrating improvement in his hands.

I don't think the Dline building is done. Let's assume all 3 guys have realistically good rookie years, meaning they are as advertised. Elliott only has a year left on his deal. I dont think they are interested in shelling out major cash on to extend him, so we could see the drafting of another DT with pass rushing ability and can stop the run.

Several guys playing behind the line could create havoc if the line is occupying 7 guys on every snap :)

If Collins can just keep one of the two men in front of him from moving him off his spot it will be an improvement. A critical factor in evaluating West and Collins play is that they are going to hopefully be freeing Fred to destroy enemy plans.

Ideally Beal suddenly shows up and the passing down line is Bosa, Collins, Williams, Beal.

Who cares what Cohn is saying?
