I understand needing to stop the run, but you gotta have something to offer as a pass rusher and I'm just not seeing it with him. He reminds me of Red Bryant in the Gus Bradley Seattle days (also kinda reminds me of A'Shawn Robinson).

Maybe he can put it together and figure out how to rush the passer a little. He's just really big and there's no twitch or real explosion there. Kinda a head scratcher for this scheme.

Day 2 picks imo overall were reaches. Don't really hate any of the players. Just not a fan of when they were taken.

Most of the picks on day 2 were reaches by a lot of teams because this isn't a great draft. Lot's of potential and projects. That's why we saw so many teams trading. Lot's of uncertainty but still lot's of needs all around the league.

Were complaining about drafting a primary run stuffers early, but once we are top 10 in run defense we will forget all about it. Im hyped! This draft is Salehs reward for going back to us lol.

How many Collins do we have on the DLine now? At least 8 I think
Love the pick. Love the commitment to stopping the run. But trying to figure out what the rotation will look like.

Is he a jumbo 3 down 3Tech? Or is he rotating with Anderson at NT? (I'm a big believer in yr2 for Evan Anderson - he's going to be a stud run down NT)

Value of this pick much higher if the former than the later.

base downs?
Bosa - Collins - Anderson - Williams

passing downs?
Bosa - Collins - Collins - Pass rush specialist (to be drafted - David Walker?)

unless we go full NASCAR package and replace Collins with YGM….

Are we still going to draft a penetrating 3T like Peebles? Where would he slot in?

so many questions……

Matthew McConaughey approved this pick. His nickname should be "Al-right Al-right Al-right"

we want to go back to having a deep DL rotation again.

Also Williams is definitely going to be in on passing downs but i think he may go in 4i role

One of, if not the best, run stoppers in the draft. That said, he's still not your typical double team eating big body nose tackle. Ridiculously strong upper body to go with his long arms, but he's also high hipped. Would like to see him develop his knee drop technique to better hold up against doubles. Also would love if he could further develop his pass rush skills. A quicker first step with lower pad level off the ball would go a long way...he's built to have both a devastating bull rush, as well as the quick shed ability to knife quickly into the backfield.

I wouldn't say this was an exciting pick, but it was a good pick none the less. Wasn't my pick, but certainly shouldn't have been considered a reach.

I wonder if they envision Collins more as a 3technique with CJ West, who is a more natural 2i nose in the wide 9. There's definitely pass rush upside traits there with Collins. Maybe they project him to trim down a tad getting into the NFL and increase his athleticism.

I didn't want to say this because I saw the NFL.com profile also stated it, but Collins reminded me of a better run defending Kinlaw when I watched him during the process. 49ers put Kinlaw right away at the 3tech spot. Maybe that's the plan with Collins.

This makes a lot of sense. He has the height/length to do it, unlike a typical fire hydrant NT at 6'0" or 6'1" (CJ West / Evan Anderson).

We are certainly going to have a lot of depth and options to play with in the rotation.

He is a 3T imo

Yep, I think Collins will be the 49ers starting 3tech.

He has some the craziest reps on tape. There are A LOT of plays where he's manhandling grown men. I mean flat out throwing SEC OL out of the club. He is just so f**king huge. There are a lot of DL in the NFL that are 6-6, 330 pounds, but most of them are sloppy. When someone's size stands out among other big men, you know he's different. What I like about Collins is that his pass rush ceiling is as high as he's willing to be coached and work.

I always wanted Kinlaw to use a bull-pull move like Chris Jones does to counter the bullrush, but Kinlaw never did it/learned it. That's one of this guy's best moves already.

I'm a big fan of this pick. The value probably wasn't great, but I could easily see another team also being in love with Collins and taking him in that area because he's 1 of 1 in the draft.

Guys, please take a moment to appreciate the coordination and balance on this rep(Collins vs #77). Reminder that this guy is 6-6, 330 pounds working the swipe and then going to a spin move as a counter all while staying on his feet. The burst for the finish. If you're not excited about this guy, I don't know what to tell you.
