The 49ers used to look at D Line as their strength. Buckner. Armstead. Bosa.

Williams and Collins are a sign that they're looking to return to those days. Two strong selections out of the gate. Kris Kocurek and Robert Saleh are happy men.

You flat out said we don't draft 330 pound DT's. I brought up Kinlaw at 320 and you still argued that.
I argued what this team needs is 3-tech rushers. Yes that's what they value overall…if you look at the history of this regime. Trying to debate that is dumb and you know it. Who we got that does that currently? We have nothing as far as pass rushing goes from the interior. This pick doesn't change that at all.
Collins is very similar to Kinlaw. He plays with high paid level all the same and won in college with straight up strength. He's got s**t to work on to make that work in the NFL. He's got the upside to be a damn good DT/NT..like Chris Jones s**t. At this point he's a 2 down guy.
If we need that bit stout NT guy, take him at 43 vs 11

Actually for us old guys that have followed the Niners since their inception(born in 46 and my Uncle was one of the original players back then), this guy is the first real deal since Michael Carter was drafted by Bill Walsh! Looks to be a great pick, hope it tuns out that way!

The fact that the 49ers picked the DE with the longest arms and then turned around and picked a DT with even LONGER arms is WILD https://t.co/E2JJZYEisF

We have pass rushers with Nick, Matos and possibly Williams. Its not top notch but not bad. What good is a pass rush when teams can run it right up the gut like they have the past two seasons. Its definitely not as "sexy" but its probably our #1 problem and these two are some of the best run defenders
Collins passrush win rate is almost 15%...that is really not shabby for a big huge space eater....the top DT last year was 18%
He might not get a ton of sacks, but he causing people to move...he has 78 pressures in his college career. all this according to PFF.

I'll admit I was shocked that they went with a pure nose tackle that early. Wasn't expecting it at all based on their past history.
