Like Larry or not, your choice

but " he has no knowledge of football ". Worked as a CFL scout. ( more knowledge than most talking heads )
" big Raider guy ". Grew up in San Francisco as a Los Angeles raider fan. Ain't buying this one.

I think he's okay, but he's wrong more often than he's been right. Being a scout for the CFL is not all you seem to think it is. He's the best niner info guy who looks like Randy from the Trailer Park Boys though, for sure.

Being a scout is not a difficult job to get (I've had buddies do it for the NYG and NE) You get paid next to nothing for it and can be fired whenever…half the time you're just typing up s**t and printing stuff lol. That dumbass Danny Kelly was a "scout" for the Jets apparently.

Larry's opinion on football is about as useful as Grant Cohn's opinion on football imo.

Hard not to like this guy as a person. Seems to do/say all the right things. And he is freak of an athlete as well. I really hope it works out and he turns into an all around stud for us. Definitely the type of kid you want to see succeed.

Unless you really badly wanted a TE.

👀
Williams was the correct pick at #11. It was the right position and right player. It was either DE or DT and DT the class was much deeper. Proof of that is we were still able to get two potential studs at DT despite passing on one at 11. I had a deep fear the Niners were going to take Stewart at 11 because of his physical traits.

Kelly was definitely making up sh*t. Dude was basically an intern lol.

But you're right the position is likely not difficult to get...a lot tougher to keep which clearly Larry has not. And when you don't have the inside sources teams have access to then all you have left is the same things all of us have - measurements or stories we're provided. Tape and stats. We all clearly have different things we look for. Even tape can show different things to people. You see it all the time when former HOF level players disagree on what they're seeing on the same play.

What I do find stupid is fans or even guys in the media who are fans of the team they report on who would rather be right about a player being a poor fit for the 49ers than hoping he works out.

Personally I always hope I'm proven wrong on players we add that I'm not a big fan of. Much rather look stupid and the team be better for it. Guess maybe if you're making content you want to be right so people listen to you more but still...

Either way hoping all our guys heal up, take advantage of the time off to work on their conditioning and whatever and come back and bring their best for camp, season and hopefully the playoffs.

We got a lot of people to shut up this season.

I agree, did not really think Williams would be there when we picked but he is a great fit inside and outside. I keep forgetting that last year he played on a high ankle.

Ithink after the Drake Jackson and Trey Lance failures, they are over high traits guys that never produced.

Huh? Drake Jackson was drafted 4 spots ahead of the top 3rd rd. value slot. All teams take gambles on athletes around then.
Trent comping Williams to Bucker, but can also play on the edge. I mean lofty expectations
