Granted most of it is filled with people from Mykel's life talking about what kind of terrific young man he is.

But if anyone had reservations about the guy, I suggest you read this - usually behind a paywall but seemed to have come up for me after turning off adblocker.

I've been on the Williams bandwagon since late February. The more I read about him the more invested I become. I was hyped up draft night when they selected him. I think we found a guy who slots in perfectly for what an end is supposed to be in this scheme.

So it appears the young fella has the long arm, the double swipe, the arm-over, the bullrush, and the stab and lift. Seeing Posey break it down, and this not being his best games (both were against Texas, IMO), I am cautiously optimistic about Williams's future. I generally like Kyle Posey, he's not one to over hype or ignore issues when he sees them. Worth a sub honestly, one of the better Niner's info guys.

Yeah excellent breakdown and shows how much impact a player like him can have without the stats to show it. Justin Smith was big like that as well. We all knew how important he was to the team but outsiders who didn't follow the team thought he was overrated cuz his sack numbers weren't special.

Sometimes it's just about doing your job at a high level that lets someone else make the big play or simply impacts the offense to where they can't make a good play happen.

Excited to see him develop as a rusher.
We know how much Saleh likes using all the DL on the roster and moving them down by down. A lot of this season is riding on what 4 players can learn before week 1 ... Collins, Williams, West, and Huff (less Huff than the other 3). If they can all do a couple different techniques with some reliability we will see them mixing and matching all over the line with the vets.

I love the idea of having a legit rotation without run defense being sacrificed. Nobody should be worn out. Keep the fresh pass rushers coming.
why do a lot of people, like larry kreuger think this guy is going to be a bust?

Why would anyone care WTF Kreuger thinks? That dude is a Raider through and thorugh who used to talk mad s**t about the 49ers on late night am sport talk radio. The only reason he transitioned from the Raiders to the 49ers is cause he saw the writing on the wall in regard to relocation.

Larry is one of those guys who is upset the team didn't take his advice and draft a defensive tackle at 11. He wanted the Nolen kid. Typical behavior from a certain type of person who thinks they know more than the entire scouting department of a professional football team.
Hard to say with Larry. He loves the players he loves and he can't see it from players he doesn't love. He loves Martin, not Bethune ... so he's certain Martin is a stud and Bethune is unplayable. He loves Pleasants, not Burford ... so he's certain Pleasants is good enough to start in the NFL (on his 9th team) and Burford can't possibly play OT. In both cases there are people who disagree on both sides.

Sometimes he's going to be right, so he just hangs on to the wins and dismisses the times he loses.

Mykel is not an outside burner, nor is he incredibly powerful, and he wasn't "Larry's pick" so he's going to question everything about him.

In Larry's defense, he seems to talk to coaches and put those clips out more than most other beat reporters.

I can't read the article :( can someone post some of the best parts of it?

Because Larry is a turd who imo is not a knowledgeable football mind and clearly looks at things like "sacks"

like others said SF didn't draft who he wanted, so it's a bad pick

Larry sucks as a football analyst. I'll stick by that. Dude hated the Warner pick calling him a ST guy only.

I would disagree that he's not incredibly powerful. I would say out of most of the high end EDGE prospects, he was regarded as one of the most powerful rushers and he also one of the youngest.
Larry bases everything off of physical traits. He wanted the Niners to draft Shemar Stewart who had no college production. All because of his traits. He also says the Niners would be stupid if they cut Luter this training camp. A player that has done nothing in the league so far. He also thinks Pline is going to be great and predicts he's going to make the 53.
