Rams and Panthers were in deep discussions for the 8th pick, which Panthers used to take McMillan, a guy that helped bring our ideal draftee closer to fruition. Rams could have really f**ked up our ability to grab Mykel Williams if that trade had gone through.

Would have cost the Rams a s**t ton to move up from 26 to 8.

Who was the Rams targeting?

Loveland. Which makes me laugh because we heard for months how Warren was easily the best TE in the class and worth taking at 11 even though we had Kittle.

Ahhh okay. I had Loveland as my TE1. Wasn't shocked he got taken higher than Warren
Williams didn't practice yesterday. Did he get hurt?

Warren was/is wildly over-rated. People fell in love with him and ignored the issues.

Got in many debates over it in the draft forum.

Lol this is no different than Mykel Williams and the other pass rushers. Mykel fit best for us. Just as Warren fit best with us.

Warren doesn't fit. He's basically a big slow WR. I'd rather have Golden or Egbuka if the team was going to spend a first round pick on a receiver.

Please don't gaslight me, already had enough of that today with Foerster talking about Brendel.

The whole sell that people were trying to claim for Warren at 11 was that he was easily the best TE in the class and too good to pass up even tho we have Kittle here(best TE in the NFL)

Btw Rams run a similar scheme to us. You want to pretend they wouldn't have Warren as the top TE but we would? The pick never made sense and all of you guys who pushed for it clearly overrated the guy.

I mean it's kinda early.

Not early enough to say Warren wasn't the clear cut #1 TE in the class. Chicago and Rams didn't exactly have a George Kittle on their roster either.

Warren could end up being a HOF TE but it won't change the fact that us drafting him at 11 would've been a bad move given our needs and our strengths.
Aaron Rodgers was the clearcut #1 QB in his class until he was at risk of sliding out of the 1st round.

Look how that one turned out.

All of this stuff is early gossip. Aaron Rodgers was the "top" QB from his class, though,...unless there's a name I'm missing? But it certainly wasn't Alex Smith.

Not sure of the definition of top you are familiar with, but 1 team reaching way too high for a certainly player doesn't automatically make them the Top player at their position years later. The top one will depends on what eventually gets shown on the field. At least,...that's how I usually see the term used?

It may turn out that Warren would've been a great pick for us and Mykel ends up a bust. We just dont know...the pads arent even on just yet...lol.

Do you ever just let a post go or do you need to make everything into an argument?

Feel free to go back to that Warren thread and read all the narratives as why he's too good to pass up at 11.

Regardless of the pads going on it doesn't change the fact that Warren wasn't the top TE in the class at any point. And plenty of people didn't have Rodgers as #1 QB in that class either btw. Also comparing a QB when a team has a clear need at QB to a TE when a team has the best TE in the league is clearly you just trying to stir things up.

I don't understand how Loveland wouldn't "fit" for SF either.

"Do you ever" --- Why must these replies start about "me" over and over instead of the content of the posts? Lol no one cares about me,....we're talking NFL football stuff.

And on me replying,....I mean no one forces anyone to make baseless, premature statements on messageboards.

If I do so publicly, I don't expect it to go unchecked.

Letting a post go would be you saying "well that's true....it's early",...and not dragging this one out.

I don't believe in speaking in absolutes quite so early when it comes to draft picks and who the Top ___ really was without a snap of football played yet. That's not a crime,...is it?

I checked to see if Indy was thinking about practice squading Warren this early or what,....because it's barely June,...and I couldn't find anything.
