That's the way things have been going. I can't believe they agreed to pay so much for "TV" rights.

That ankle injury undoubtedly cost him money. I think it introduced enough doubt to where he was able to drop a few more spots to where the 49ers could pick him.

I wouldn't even be slightly surprised in a few years to hear a lot of talk about how several teams dropped the ball by letting him fall so far.

I had him over Carter. I don't think he can maintain the edge on run plays against NFL monsters, and I think he'll struggle when NFL tackles can get their hands on him. That said his explosion and bend is elite, so on passing downs he's going to be a problem occasionally. Williams is so big and powerful his pass rush isn't even his most important skill to start, it's that tackles are not going to be able to throw him around and he's going to control the edge early. At least that's what I thought.

how so ? back in the day many high picked first round players, especially QBs, were more expensive.

Is there a modern day equivalent of Sam Bradford rookie contract ? He got 50m guaranteed back in 2010.

His contract might have been the last straw before they re-did the rookie pay scale.

edit: in comparison, Cam Ward, the #1 QB in this years draft, ie 15 years later with the cap rising by a lot (we will omit that 2010 season had no cap for easier conversation), has gotten 48m in guaranteed money. Less than Bradford.

I'm really excited about this guy. I think he's more NFL ready than some analysts have stated. I think he'll be a solid pass rusher from the start, with upside, and a really good run blocker. I like the way he uses his arm length so well.

I switch between YouTubeTV and Hulu TV. $80 a month and you get all the channels + recordings

Playstation Vue was perfect before they decided to quit Streaming. YouTubeTV is ok for a family of 3 or less. I am now stuck with Hulu. Well past $80 at this point though . For me anyway

Yeah I enjoyed that interview…as I usually do when Kay is involved.

Mykel just seems like such a good dude and love that he's all business there. Excited to see him develop here.

It's not singular contracts, it's collective.

I got an HD antenna and free media server software for network TV, everything else I stream and tend to, like you, rotate purveyors.

you claimed that "high pick rookies are more expensive now than they used to be."

and I asked you how so

After the 2011 CBA, young rookie qb on cheap is the best value in the NFL

pre 2011 CBA, picking a rookie qb high in the first round wasnt even a value - you could pay a huge amount of your salary cap to a rookie jamarcus russell to be a bum

In 2025 the first pick signed for $48+M, the 2nd for $46, then $45, etc down to the last first round pick getting almost $15M. Sure the 2005 first pick got $53M, but the 2nd only got $26, down to the last first round pick getting $6M. Then look at signing bonuses and guaranteed money and it's MUCH worse. In 2005 the total first round signing bonuses was less than $40M, in 2025 the first two picks alone got more than $60M signing bonus.

There is more money and less flexibility in high pick draft pick contracts now than there used to be. Looking at only QBs is not a fair comparison.
